1. Lars Skinnebach’s Shift in Poetics

In recent years, Danish poet Lars Skinnebach (born in 1973) has shown a growing interest in applying avant - garde aesthetic strategies to contemporary political issues. This is particularly evident in his 2011 ecopoetic work, Øvelser og rituelle tekster (Exercises and Ritual Texts).

In 2011, Skinnebach announced a break in his poetics. Previously subscribing to a modernist view of aesthetic autonomy, he now advocated for “effect - oriented art” with the goal of combating climate change through poetry. He compared the existential and art - internal discussions of the 20th century to “the orchestra playing while the ship
