Petri Net and Deadlock Detection in Distributed Systems
1. Petri Net Equivalent to IMDS
In the context of Petri nets corresponding to IMDS systems, certain rules govern the input and output markings. When there is an input message place (or no output message place), the output marking has one token for each server and at most one token for each agent. The agents represented in the output marking are either the same as in the input or one agent less, which is the agent not represented in the lacking output message place. This ensures that the output places of the Petri net (PN) transition are either empty or the same as the input ones.
If the initial marking has exactly one token for every server and every agent, and the transitions preserve the number
