hi at all i'm new of this forum and this is my first post........i would like to know something about the M3G file exporter in 3dstudio max release 8.

I built a little scene, i created some lights and i computed the "complete lightmaps" (complete lightmaps means that the renderer generates the lightpmaps and relative materials directly in a single texture, with this method i can bypass the multitexture funcion to render the lightmaps over a textured surface) using the RENDER_TO_TEXTURE function of 3dsmax.......the effect was very cool also for the usage of the advanced lighting calculation computed with VRAY an external Global Illumination rendering engine for 3dsmax!!!!!

Now i would like to know..............first if the M3G file export the information about the lightmaps and second i could read them. I assigned the lightmap in the DIFFUSE channel

could someone give me some help

Hi almighty,

I'm not sure about 3DMax8 built-in exporter, but I think that it doesn't support lightmaps.

hi thanks anyway but i solved the problem.........now i can compute the lightmaps in 3dsmax 8 and then export them directly using the M3G exporter. There is an option in the RENDER_TO_TEXTURE panel that replace the computed lightmap with the original material texture in the source material............with this method i can assign a lightmapped textured surface to the objects and then render them with one pass.

but i'm still having some problems when i render the objects into the JSR viewer included in 3dsmax package........can you give me some info about this problem??? the objects are: a plane, a box and a torusknot....there are all standard primitives of 3dsmax

P.S. how could i post 2 little shots about it?
