着重先说一下summary
The summary sheet should include:
Resatement and clarification of the problem:State in your own words what you are going to do.
Explain assumptions and rationle/justification:Emphasize the assumptions that bear on the problem.Clearly list all variables used in your model.
Include your model design and justification for type model used or developed.
Describle model testing and sensitivity analysis, including error analysis, etc.
Discuss the strengths and weaknesses ofyour model or approach.
(the summary should only be a little obver a half page, attructing reader as mush as possible)
now mainly talking about the style of writing
1.Write in the first person plural(use ‘we’ is better)
2.Use the present tense(it is mean that at the moment that you have write to this pleace like ’ we[now] solve the equation’).
3.Use the active voice
the active voice is where the subject of the sentence performs an action:
**good:**The model produced a desirable conclusion.
the passive voice is where an action is performed on the subject:
**bad:**a desirable conclusion was produced
4.Use simple sentences
**bad:**The value of the parameter
μ
,which was used in the previous section to determine the height of the building, can also beused to determine its width.
**good:**In the previous section, we use the value of the parameter
μ
to determine the height of the building. we can also use
μ
to determine the width of the bulding.
5.Use short paragraphs
A paragraph is used to represent a bigger idea and describe a larger event, often consisting multiple sentences. The end of a paragraph gives the reader a chance to pause an think about the paragraph. If you use short paragraphs , it will be easier on the reader.
(extremely short is also not recommanded)
6.Use words which are as speccific as you can
**bad:**Using the previous expression .we can conclude…
**good:**Using the previous equation. we can conclude…
7.Do not include trivialities(碎屑的东西)
Any routine computations should probably be omitted.
Please remember:Reviewers of your paper are experts. They want to learn your flow of thoughts as quickly as possible without being bogged down with trivialities.
8.Highlight important statements
For example ,the section”Assumptions” only consists of such a bulleted list.
9.Omit needless words
Bad: The variable
x
is positive, due to the fact that it is a perfect square.
Good: The variable
bad: We will now find the solutions of the follwing equation.
good: We will now slove the following equation.
10.About ‘that’
if mathematical expressions are followed, the word “assume” and “suppose” should be followed by “that”
11.Use parallel phrasing to emphasize similarities
**bad:**if f
a
is a root of the function
good: if
a
is a root of the funtion
12.Avoid pointless repetition
**bad:**First we solved an equation. Then we solved another equation.
**good:**First we solved an equation. The solution of the first equaion allowed us to slove the second equation.
bad: we know that Equation A has asolution.Hence,Equation B has a solution.it follows that Equation Equation C has a solution.
good: We know that Equation A has a solution ,which implies that Equaion B has a solution. Thus,Equation C also has a solution.
13.Avoid using the same word for different purpses
bad: we ran into several problems while trying to solve the problem
**good:**we ran into serveral obstacles while trying to solve the problem.
14.Keep the antecedents(先前) of any pronouns(代词) clear
**bad:**The function and its derivative are continuous;it is also nonnegative(这种情况就不用用代词了)
**good:**The function is continuous;it is also nonnegative
15.Do not overstate your results
