VMware vCenter LabManager installs an ActiveX plug-in to display the Web console in MicrosoftInternet Explorer. If the vSphere Client is installed on the same machine, itinterferes with the registration of vCenter Lab Manager's plug-in. The vCenterLab Manager Web consoles appears black in Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Solution
Do one of thefollowing:
· If you are using vSphere Client 4.0, upgradeto vSphere Client 4.0 Update 2.
· If you are using vSphere Client 4.1, upgradeto vSphere Client 4.1 Update 1.
After upgrading thevSphere Client, do the following:
1. Close all instances ofInternet Explorer.
2. Run the followingcommand (as administrator) at the command prompt to register the Lab Managerconsole plug-in.
regsvr32"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\PLUGINS\quickMksAx.dll"
Note: Use %ProgramFiles(x86)%\InternetExplorer\PLUGINS\quickMksAx.dll file
for InternetExplorer on 64-bit Windows.
If the %ProgramFiles%\InternetExplorer\PLUGINS\quickMksAx.dll file does not exist orthe above mentioned steps do not resolve the issue, you should install LabManager's console plug-in.
To install Lab Manager MKS console plug-in
1. Navigate to C:\ProgramFiles\Internet Explorer\PLUGINS.
2. Delete allVMware-related plug-in files.
3. Download the plug-inCAB file from the following https URL:
https//<LMIPADDRESS>/LabManager/ControlPanel/Machines/MachineDetails/ActiveXControls/ViewerXVNC/VMware-mks.cab
4. Uncompress thecontents of the CAB file into C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\PLUGINS\.
5. Close all instances ofInternet Explorer.
6. Run the followingcommand (as administrator) at the command prompt to register the Lab Managerconsole plug-in.
