Software quality has been a main concern in software development. Every IT enterprise claims that quality plays the most important role in the process of software devlopment. So, what is the definition of software quality?

You, especially a professional programmer, may wonder why I introduce a customer’s perspective first. Our intuitive feel that a bug-free program is a high-quality program is not completely right. Obvious software bugs surely mean poor quality. A lousy user interface equates to poor quality. If the product doesn’t quite serve the buyer’s needs, the product is defective.Remember that most of softwares developed for profits, without profits business will eventually fail. The customer’s delight with our product is the ultimate measure of quality.
In brielf, as Jack Ganssle said, the quality of a product is exactly what the customer says it is.
Software Quality: A Developer’s Perspective
Correctness: The program runs as the users’ needs
Reliability: No one could bear frequently crash.
Efficiency: How many resources are need to execute the software and how fast it is.
Maintainability: In the process of development and after the software has been submit to the end user, maintainablity means it is easy to find and fix bugs.
Portability: Nowadays, the same software are require to run on differnet architecture and different Operating System.
