Course Description:
This 3-days course is for IBM Tivoli Identity Manager 5.1 system administrator who are responsibible for the administration and configuration of IBM Identity Manager 5.1 and agents. Topics includes TIM system architecture, TIM middleware tuning and monitoring,
problem determination,and component upgrades.

Objectives:
After completing this course, you should be able to accomplish the following tasks:
1: Ensure the health of the TIM implementation and middleware through log usage and problem determination.
2: Tune system parameters for optimal performance of TIM and middleware.
3: Upgrade TIM components by applying fix packs to TIM and middleware.
Agenda:
Unit 1 Maintaining System Heath:
1: Describle TIM system architecture.
2: Apply memory setting for TIM components.
3: Manage Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) recycle bin.
4: Set disk usage limits for TIM components.
5: Set Tivoli Directory Server thread count.
6: Configure recycle bin age limit
7: Set messaging and timeout values
8: Configure logging level, options, and file sizes
9: Track logs and log sizes.
Unit 2: Monitoring the system:
1: Monitoring memory usage by TIM middleware.
2: Monitoring connectivity to database and LDAP.
3: Monitoring disk space of application servers and repositories.
4: Monitoring cluster members.
5: Monitoring DB2 performance and indentify potential problems.
Unit 3: Problem Determination and Mangement
1: Gather and review logging and service ability function in TIM.
2: Review middleware logs (DB2, TDS, WAS).
3: Determine the problem category.
4: Increase logging level for the appropriate category.
Unit 4: Planning the Fix Cycle, Backups, and Upgrades
1: Perform backup of all TIM and system components.
2: Paln the fix cycle.
3: Install upgrades on the test environment
4: Install new adapter or upgrade.
5: install the adapter profile.
6: Promote TIM configration data to production.
7: Perform function Verification on items fixed by updates.
