多视图视频编码(MVC)作为H.264/AVC的一部分，支持构造代表多个视频场景视角的比特流。该技术特别适用于立体3D视频编码。MVC工作发展了两种配置文件：多视图高配置文件支持任意数量的视图；立体高配置文件专为两视图立体视频设计。这些多视图视频编码扩展于2009年11月完成。

Multiview Video Coding (MVC). Specified in Annex H of H.264/AVC, MVC enables the construction of bitstreams that represent more than one view of a video scene. An important example of this functionality is stereoscopic 3D video coding. Two profiles were developed in the MVC work: Multiview High Profile supports an arbitrary number of views, and Stereo High Profile is designed specifically for two-view stereoscopic video. The Multiview Video Coding extensions were completed in November 2009.
