Based on the security schemas that those networks use, ZigBee specification defines two types of networks:

1. Centralized security network

2. Distributed security network

二、Duration for join permit

By default, networks are closed for new devices.

In both types of networks, the network can only be opened for a maximum of 254 seconds at a time, after which the network will be closed for joining. Z3.0 networks cannot remain open indefinitely.

The duration for which devices may attempt to join a network is reflected in the beacon packets sent by any existing networks in response to a joining devices beacon requests.

三、Enabling security

To use network layer security, all device images must be built with the preprocessor flag SECURE set equal to 1.

This can be found in the f8wConfig.cfg file and is enabled by default in all projects, as it is mandatory in Z3.0.
