This is also a very common situation facing everyone at sometime or another in their life.

 

A：Mr. Jones, this is Bill, your tenant in 8C.

   琼斯先生，我是比尔，你的8号C的房客。

 

B：Hi. What’s up? Nothing’s wrong I hope.

   你好。有什么事吗？希望一切完好。

 

A：There are a few problems with the apartment. First, the faucet in the bathtub drips constantly.

   我的房间有点毛病。首先，浴缸的水龙头老是滴水。

 

B：I’ll ask my plumber to come by and fix it tomorrow.

   明天我让水管工来修理一下。

 

A：Also, one of the burners on the stove doesn’t work.

   还有，炉子上有一个炉头点不着火。

 

B：What’s the matter with it?

   是什么毛病呢？

 

A：I can’t control the temperature. I think you’ll have to get an electrician.

   我不能控制温度。我想得派一个电工来修一下才行。

 

B：I’ll see what I can do. Is that everything?

   我会看着办的。没有别的事了吧？

 

A：Well, there’s one more thing. I can’t get a dial tone on the phone; it’s dead.

   还有一点。我的电话没有拨音号，完全哑了。

 

B：I’m sorry, there’s nothing I can do about that. You’ll have to call the phone company.

   对不起，这个我管不了。你得给电话公司打电话。
