Using STEP & STEP-NC for integration of CAX systems
Abstract: To solve the problem of product data exchange and sharing between CAPP and other CAX systems, an information integration method was proposed based on the STandard for the Exchange of Product model data (STEP) and STEP-NC. A CAD/CAPP/CAM/CNC integrated system model was established. The system employed STEP and STEP-NC to express parts features, process planning information and other data in some XML files, by which data exchange and sharing could be realized in the integrated system. Apparently, this method makes a good performance in exchanging feature data and sharing process parameter information.
