For Java 7 issue, I update Chrome via click “About Google Chrome” menu in the tool bar. But in the next power on/off my PC, Chrome said can’t load my extensions [and settings]. But other data is OK, includes history, cookies etc.
When open the dir ‘[windows XP system drive]:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions’, there’s nothing. Where are they? Shit!
After restore them use an restore tool, then copy these extensions back to ‘Default\Extensions’, failed again. These files were deleted again by Chrome. I have no choose now, must update extensions again. When install some extensions, there are some differences file contents between old and new installed. Maybe the restore tool can’t restore completely, or these files were damaged by some unknown operations. Who knows?!
If synced Chrome settings use Google account, you can sync again them back. see this article ‘All Google Chrome Data Lost‘, so lucky!
