本文介绍了如何在SharePoint Library/List中开启版本管控设置，以及如何通过版本历史记录跟踪文件/项目的修改情况，包括大版本和小版本的区别，以及如何进行版本恢复或删除操作。

为了记录SharePoint Library/List中file/Item的修改情况，IT Administrator会在List/Library的Version Settings中开启Version管控设置。之后用户每次编辑item/file保存就会生成一个新的version记录，这样我们就会知道哪个用户在什么时间做了编辑，并保留之前item/file数据，如果需要回到之前版本也可以对file/item的history version选择restore实现。

在Library里，对Version的设置可以为Major Version和Minor Version，主要是大版本和小版本的区别。在List里，只有MajorVersion管理。

下面我们就通过Library为例看下Version Settings的具体情况：

在Site Collection的Library中，修改Library Settings->Versioning Settings，开启version管控，可以根据需要选择Major Version或者Major Version and Minor Version，保存设置；

Optionally limit the number of versionsto retain选项是设置对file保留多少个version版本。

Upload file并编辑后，我们可以点击file查看version history，显示file全部的版本信息，包括当前的最新版本和历史版本；

在显示File的Version History信息中，我们可以选择某个version做restore或者delete操作。

Note:对File而言，每一个version是一个真实大小的file存储在数据库中，建议考虑定期清理不需要的version。比如上面Step3中图，file有3个version：1.0、2.1、2.2，每个版本有对应的size，那对这个file存储在数据库中的大小其实是所有version size和，即312.5KB+ 311.1KB+ 311.1KB的大小。
