养了一只鹦鹉系列-02

话说悟空的同事又送了一只蓝色鹦鹉，雄的，这回热闹了。趁热打铁，做了几个食盒和饮水器，以及攀爬架， 鹦鹉的田园生活就此开启了。记录如下：
2002-03-14 About the toy I made for the parrots.

I made a toy for the parrots which is as the picture posted below. I made two ladders that the one on the first floor and another from the second floor to the top , ie the perch. I used tons of methods to induce the bird to stnand on the the top perch which they could feed themselves water and food. However neither the yellow one nor blue one liked to stand on it. I have no idea why. I decided not feed them any more and removed the manger（feeder） from the inside of the cage and put it on the first floor of the toy which meant there were two manger for the toy and there was no manger in the cage. The birds were hungry after hours without eating any food. They jumped and crawled around the cage where the manger was. You know there was none manger in the cage and they found the manger had been move to a new place where they were not familiar with. They tried to access the manger in sorts of methods and it seemed they had not mastered the skill to land on the top perch of the toy. I had to put some food on my hand and shew them with my hand streched. The yellow one jumped to my hand from the side of the cage and ate the food cautiously. I moved my hand closer to the manger slowly and I wanted to let the bird see there was more food in the manger than in my hand. Anyway, once this little creature ate up all of the food in my hand she took off from my hand and perched on the top of the cage. What‘s more the blue one even did not come to my hand at all in the first several times.

In the afternoon, I thought if I put both the cage and toy on the floor , they mighe be able to access it much easier because I found them so hungry that they both landed on the floor to seek food. Then I did as I thought. You know , it worked. The blue on flew and hovered on the toy and then landed on the top perch! And the yellow one walking on the ground and step by step , she found the lader and then climbed to the first perch and she fed herself with another manger. Done! After a while the lillte yellow wanted to stand perch on the he top and she tried to climed straight up with swing！ Then I noticed that parrot might just have one step method which is the the direct method to the goal. She had no idea that she could get on the top with rope ladder beside her.
Shall I make a new ladder with which the birds can climb to the top or just trian them to master the flying skill? I have no idea either. I will try tomorrow.
