	Thank you very much for your application for positions in the volunteering programme of theOlympic and Paralympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. 
We appreciate your longstanding supportfor the preparation of the Games.
	As you are aware,the outbreak of the coronavirus disease in early 2020 has since had atremendous impact on the Games preparation, posing a 
significant challenge.Given the uncertain Covid-19 situation since the closure of the application for the volunteeringprogramme on 30 June 2521 
and in accordance with the requirements of a"streamlined, safeand splendid ”Games,we have adjusted the number and positions of volunteers, taking 
into account the Covid-19 countermeasures applicable to each Games venue and operation.
	Following a preliminary screening of all applications based on a comprehensive assessment ofthe applicants’ knowledge, skills, 
volunteering experience, and interested positions, we came upwith a shortlist and conducted several rounds of interviews and online tests of the 
shortlistedcandidates.We have now finalised the list of candidates to be recruited as Beijing 2022 volunteers.
	lt is with regret that we inform you that you have not been shortlisted or selected for thevolunteering,programme. due to the 
limited number of volunteer positions and a result of theCovid-19.We want to emphasise that you and all applicants have perfectly exemplified the

Dear Professor Smith, 
	I am writing to express my gratitude for inviting me to visit the plastics recycling factory last week, 
and to share some ideas about plastic pollution. 
	The public have yet to fully realize the gravity of this issue. They are often shocked by news about 
plastic pollution, but only for a while. They still buy bottled drinks or use plastic bags as always. 
This is understandable. After all, they live far away from trash-clogged seas and have never witnessed, for 
example, the body of a plastic-choked whale. Perhaps a visit to a plastics recycling factory or a landfill 
will help increase their awareness of how much plastic waste they are generating every day. 
	Thank you again for giving me this precious opportunity. It was a meaningful trip for environmental 
science majors like me.
