Change VM Computer Name and IP Address
1. Find an available Computer Name. E.g. vm07
Write down your Computer Name and IP Address.
E.g. 192.168.1.123
2. Enter your Virtual Machine System, E.g. Siebel782_YXY
3. Go to Local Area Connection Properties to configure a Static IP on your system.
Concrete configuration as following,
IP address: 192.168.1.123
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 202.114.166.82
4. Right click My Computer icon on your desktop.
Then select Properties | Computer Name, and click Change button.
Modify your Computer Name to vm09 that you found at Step 1.
Modify your Workgroup to what you want. E.g. RA
Click OK to confirm your operation.
5. When you click OK button, a dialog is showing like this.
Input your system’s User name and Password. Click OK.
Click Yes to restart your system.
Note: After you restart your system, if you could not enter it for long time, please Power off your VM and Power on it again.
6. After you restart your VM system, please ping your modified Computer Name with another computer to check whether you have changed VM computer name succeed.
Reconfigure Gateway Name Server - 1
1. Go to Control Panel and double-click Add or Remove Programs icon. Run Siebel Enterprise Servers full uninstall.
If a Warning Dialog is showing as follows, please click Continue button to skip it.
2. When Siebel Enterprise Servers full uninstall programs is running, please click Next Button.
3. Select Gateway Name Server and click Next Button to continue.
4. Select “Yes, restart my computer” and click Finish Button to restart your VM System and finish your uninstall Gateway Name Server operation.
Reconfigure Gateway Name Server - 2
1. Go to your Siebel Enterprise Server setup path and run setup.exe.
2. Click Next Button.
3. Select “Proceed with Full Installation of a new instance or add languages to an existing” Radio Button and click Next Button.
4. Select “None. Install a new instance” and click Next Button.
5. Select “Gateway Name Server” and click Next Button.
6. Select “Typical” Radio Button and click Next Button.
7. Click Next Button.
8. Click Next Button.
9. Click Next Button.
10. Input your VM System’s User Account and User Account Password. At last, click Next Button.
Note: You should add “./” to the head of your User Account. For example, “./test”
11. In general, you need NOT change Gateway Name Server Listening Port. Just click Next Button to continue.
12. You may select checkbox “Yes” to set Gateway Name Server Service to be started automatically, when you Startup your system every time. Of course, you may not pick up this checkbox. And if you do this, you have to run Gateway Name Server Service in manual.
13. And for the similar reason, You may select or may not pick up this checkbox “Yes” to startup Gateway Name Server Service immediately.
14. Click Finish Button to end your configuration.
15. A dialog box is showing to indicate you have succeeded to configure your Gateway Name Server.
16. Click Finish Button to end the whole configuration.
Reconfigure Siebel Server
1. Go to Start | Programs | Siebel Enterprise Server Configuration 7.8 and click Siebel Server configuration.
2. Just click Next Button to skip this configuration.
3. For the same reason, just click Next Button to skip this configuration.
4. Input your new Computer Name to the Gateway Name Server Hostname text-field (E.g. vm07) and click Next Button to continue.
5. Check the first Radio Button—Siebel Data Quality Matching—to set the mode of data match. And then, click Next Button to continue.
6. Input your new Computer Name again to the Remote Search Server Hostname text-field (E.g. vm07) and click Next Button to continue.
7. Input your new Computer Name thirdly to the Siebel Server Name text-field (E.g. vm07) and click Next Button to continue.
8. Just keep default value and click Next Button to continue.
9. Click Next Button to skip this configuration.
10. Input your VM System’s User Account and User Account Password. At last, click Next Button.
Note: You should add “./” to the head of your User Account. For example, “./test”
11. For the same reason with Step 12 of Reconfigure Gateway Name Server-2, you may or may not pick up “Yes” checkbox. At then, click Next Button.
12. For the same reason with previous step, you may or may not pick up “Yes” checkbox. At then, click Next Button.
13. Just click Next Button to skip this configuration.
14. Click Finish Button to end the whole Siebel Server Configuration.
15. A dialog box is showing to indicate you have succeeded to configure your Siebel Server.
Now, if you have done the entire steps above,you need check your Windows System Services.
You will find TWO Siebel Server Services. One—Siebel Server [Sieb78_stitovm01]—is the original Siebel Server Service that is before we modified our Computer Name. And another one —Siebel Server [Sieb78_vm07]— is the NEW Siebel Server Service that is after we modified our Computer Name to vm07.
Obviously, we need delete the old one, namely Siebel Server [Sieb78_stitovm01].
1. Please startup a Command Window like this,
2. Please input command: sc delete [your old service name].
E.g. sc delete siebsrvr_Sieb78_stitovm01
Note: If you are NOT sure your old service name, please go to Service Panel. Then, Right-click the service that you want to delete. And click Properties. Now, you will find the Service Name.
Reconfigure Siebel Web Server Extension
If you have done the whole steps above. Congratulation! You just need to perform the last step to finish our operation of change Computer Name.
1. Go to Start | Programs | Siebel Enterprise Server Configuration 7.8 and click Siebel Web Server Extension Configuration.
2. Select “Single Siebel Server in the Enterprise” Radio Button and click Next Button to continue.
3. Please input your new Computer Name to the “Hostname for the Siebel Application Server” text-field and click Next Button to continue. (E.g. vm07)
4. Please input your Enterprise Server Name and click Next Button to continue. (E.g. sieb78)
5. Click Next Button.
6. Click Next Button.
7. Click Next Button.
8. Input your Employee’s Anonymous Login Name and Password.
In our case, we set all of them to test.
Then, click Next Button.
If an alert dialog box is showing, please press OK button to ignore it.
9. Input your Contact Login User Name and Password. For the same reason, we set all of them to test as well. And last, click Next Button.
If an alert dialog box is showing, please press OK button to ignore it.
10. In this step, you can input any string. As a matter of convenience, we input test at here as well.
11. Click Next Button.
12. Press Finish Button to startup configuration procedure.
13. A dialog box is showing to indicate you have succeeded to configure your Siebel Web Server Extension.
Now, you have finished all the operations to modify your Computer Name. You can open your browser at another computer and go to http://localhost/callcenter_enu/ and http://vm07/callcenter_enu (vm07 is your new computer name) to check whether you have succeeded to configure your Siebel Application.
If you can see the user interface as following, that indicates you have changed your computer name successfully.
If you can see the user interface as following, which indicates you did NOT have changed your computer name successfully. You need reconfigure your Siebel Web Server Extension again.
