Dr. Jia Zhu joined School of Computing Science, South China Normal University as Associate Professor in early 2014, and then being promoted to Professor in 2017. Before he was a Postdoctoral Fellow/Project Manager in UNU-IIST sinceDecember 2012. Dr. Zhu received a Bachelor of Information Technology from Bond University, Australia in 2004 and Master of Information Technology (Hons) from Bond University, Australia in 2006. In 2012, he received a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from University of Queensland, Australia, supervised by Prof. Xiaofang Zhou. His research interests include Data Mining, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Information System, Benchmarking System, Financial Engineering and Forecasting, Social Network Analysis. He has published more than 50 papers in well known journals and conferences, such as DMKD, Information Sciences, Scientometrics,SEE, IJCAI, SIGIR, WWW, DASFAA, CIKM, DEXA, APWEB, WAIM .

Jia Zhu was a professional old gun in IT industry who has been involved into many million dollars projects since 2001, while he is also a researcher who specializes on Data Analysis and Mining, Social network analysis, Software Engineering, Automation trading system, Financial Forecasting, etc. He is an active researcher in data mining area and being invited as editor/reviewer in a few academic events. He has been invited to give seminar talks in many places, e.g. CUHK, SBS road show 2010, WISE 2011, Getfest 2012, etc. Jia is also partnering with other experts in publishing industry, he has edited/published more than 100 books in computer science, bioinformatics, medical, etc since 2010.
