Problem

When you try to connect with the Cisco ××× client in Windows Vista, you receive the following error:

Reason 442: Failed to Enable Virtual Adapter

This error prevents you from connecting with Cisco ××× client.

Solution 1

To resolve this problem in Windows Vista, do the following:

  1. Click Start > Computer.
  2. Double-click your C: drive.
  3. Double-click Program Files > Cisco Systems > ××× Client.
  4. Right-click on c***d.exe and select Properties.
  5. Click the Compatibility tab.
  6. Put a check mark next to the option, Run this program in compatibility mode for:.
  7. Make sure Windows XP Service Pack 2 is selected.
  8. Click Apply and then click OK.
  9. Right-click ***gui.exe and select Properties.
  10. Put a check mark next to the option, Run this program in compatibility mode for:.
  11. Make sure Windows XP Service Pack 2 is selected.
  12. Click Apply and then click OK.
  13. Restart your computer.

After your computer restarts, you may connect with Cisco ××× client.

Solution 2 这个问题是由于网络连接开启了“连接共享”引起的,解决方法如下:
1、点击“网络连接"
2、点击 "Cisco Systems ××× Adapter 本地连接", 选择共享(Tab),去掉/禁用 Internet 连接共享中的 “允许其它网络用户通过此计算机的 Internet 连接来连接” 项;
3、再检查下其它的几个本地连接的共享选项,将其禁用然后点击你的Cisco ××× Client 进行连接; Solution 3 1. start->settings-> network connections
