本文解决了在安装VMware Tools过程中遇到的特定错误提示问题。当出现先前已安装的VMware Tools检测信息及无法找到二进制安装目录的错误时，提供了一种解决方案：删除指定的文件夹并重新安装。

安装VMware Tools错误提示:

A previous installation of VMware Tools has been detected.

The previous installation was made by the tar installer (version 4).

Keeping the tar4 installer database format.

You have a version of VMware Tools installed. Continuing this install will
first uninstall the currently installed version. Do you wish to continue?
(yes/no) [yes]  当你选择"yes"后出现如下信息：

Error: Unable to find the binary installation directory(answer BINDIR)
in the installer database file "/etc/vmware-tools/locations".

Uninstall failed. Please correct the failure and re run the install.

Execution aborted.

 

解决方法： 
删除/etc/vmware-tools和/usr/lib/vmware-tools全部文件，
用命令：rm -rf 文件夹名，
然后重新安装 VMware Tools
