Some people may argue that news today is less accurate comparing to their counterparts in the past and this phenomenon can cause some problems to the public. However, as far as I am concerned, the accuracy of news today is becoming better and better.
Firstly, news media companies need to provide reliable news in order to survive. In the past, there are less news provider, latest news could only be obtained from the televisions and radios. At present, however, the development of internet makes people know the world news from various kind of ways. At the same time, more companies appear to public the news. So, if some companies made misleading or inaccurate news, less people would see the news provided by this company. In other words, people can get more reliable news from other news providers and unreliable news providers are less likely to survive because fewer people follows. However, in the past, even though sometime the news is inaccurate, people don't have other option to get more reliable news.
Second, government plays an important role to maintain the accuracy of the media. The importance of media gradually increases with the development of internet and smart phones. In other words, media have more impact on public than in the past. So, government begin to make more comprehensive laws to maintain the accuracy of the news. In the past, there are fewer news provider and the government don't have perfect ways to control the accuracy of the news. However, at the moment, in order to make a piece of news, a news provider need to provide solid evidences, like records or photos. And the one who made inaccurate news would get punishment according to its effect.
Third, public are more qualify to distinguish the bad news from the good ones. In the past, even though some people realize there may have some inaccurate news, they don't know how to tell it. However, at the moment, some officer workers are responsible for collecting the inaccurate news and analyzing its providers and methods to make this piece of news. And then some programs or lectures would be arranged at specific time to teach the public how to distinguish unreliable news and which news provider are probably related with less accurate news. Additionally, some past data even be made about which news provider is considered to be the most reliable.
