1. Oracle Flex Clusters Introduction
In Oracle 12c R1 (12.1), Oracle Flex Clusters were an option. However, starting from 12.2.0.1, the Grid Infrastructure (GI) will automatically configure the cluster for Flex clustering. This type of cluster has hub nodes and leaf nodes, as shown in the following table:

| Leaf Nodes | Can be added during the initial GI install or later using rapid home provisioning or by cloning the GI home with addnode.sh |
