PERSONAL STATEMENT

 

Applicant: Ye Tian     

Program: Master of Internet Economics

 

I graduated from Beijing Information Technology Institute in 2008, have got the Bachelor Degree in Computer Science and Technology, and then I worked for Welocalize.inc as a Software Localization Engineer. During the time in Welocalize.inc, not only our company was so worried about the economic crisis, but also the whole IT services industry was challenged. First I didn’t care about it but what the companies’ response to this state of economy had shocked me, so that I should reconsider the situation today and want to figure out why and try to find a solution. Though my major is Computer Science, I learnt the basis of economics myself while I was a student in the college for my interest, then tried to help my friend to start an e-business website. I believe that, the computerization must be the future trend of the economics, even all the business or industries in the world. This made me be willing to take a further study on the relationship between Computer Science and Economics. Fortunately, this time I get this opportunity.

 

My goal and interest lead me to apply to the MIE of the Integrated Master Program. After reading the subject and courses’ introduction, I am very sure of that, this is my real need. To my understanding of Computer Science, all the things of this material world can be virtualized and simulated by Computing and Modeling. However, computer science is always a tool, just like IS-LM Model analyzing the short waves of economic activities, to implement all needs. IS-LM model analyzed for our need and computer science helps us make IS-LM model easier to implement and see the results. In this case, I can look upon the most important achievement of Computer Science – the internet technology – as a powerful tool to help us deal with all of the economics and business issues.

 

Besides, my work experience helps me with learning the courses. Welocalize.inc offered a full English environment for me to practice my English skills all the time, and the clients’ requirements often need me to learn quickly; due to the job category, I, the SWL engineer, should be responsible for all the works and return my products with a high quality. This makes me be confident of my quality of the further study that my clients always return excellent feedbacks for my projects. The experiences of software engineering and development also help me with the understanding of implementation methods of the applications of internet economics. Taken together, I am submitting my application for acceptance into the Integrated Master Program of Master of Internet Economics of your University.
