Automata-Theoretic Approach to Regular XPath
1 Introduction
In recent years, XML has become the standard language for representing and exchanging semi-structured data. As a result, there has been significant interest in reasoning about XML queries and integrity constraints. XPath, a popular language for navigating XML documents, has been extensively studied for its expressive power and computational properties. However, extending XPath with regular expressions over paths, known as Regular XPath (RXPath), presents both opportunities and challenges.
RXPath allows for more expressive queries over XML documents by incorporating regular expressions into path expressions. Despite its enhanced expressiveness, RXPath retains the computational properties of XPa
