You may feel confused about the things describe here. This document is to record what happened, not to analyze what happened. Some details were slightly modified to make this article understandable for ordinary people but it won’t influence the storyline or the truth, because I found lots of shocking facts and put those details and discoveries in a document named <Simon Hatch’s untold story and analysis >, but not everyone is authorized to read it. The names of personnel and organizations have been modified to avoid a breach of privacy.
Some of my work content mentioned below serves the purpose of figuring out the truth I deserve. I only worked there for less than 3 months in my probation period. No business secret is mentioned here. Some evidence mentioned here was publicly posted on FGF Alliance Australia’s Service Desk Platform where at least 20 people have access to it. I got all those evidence through legal channels.

This document is a public version of a Chinese website about what happened to Simon Hatch. It is fully protected by China’s freedom of speech law. If any people or organizations think this public document violates their rights, they have the freedom to sue Simon Hatch through China’s legal system.
C) Summary:
Starting from the evening of a Friday, Simon Hatch( Alias, a graduate of Australian National University), who was an employee of a South Australian company that conducts similar business to his former employer in Asia, was restricted personal freedom, interrogated with death threats for about 60 hours. His landlord kept asking “Why did you come here!”, “What do you want!”, “What is your purpose here!”. He was too threatened and scared to have sleep and food during that interrogation.
After two days of interrogation, the landlord get nothing from him, because Hatch had done nothing wrong.
On the morning of that Monday, after two days of extreme anxiety, Hatch’s old mother in Asia finally found a way to reach his landlord and supervisor, trying to figure out what happened to her only son. With the intervention of his mother and one of his friends, he was finally set free and sent to ICU right after. He had to stay in two different hospitals for 12 days just to recover from the metal damage. But it took far longer for this family to fully recuperate from such psychological injuries. His parents were shocked, confused and anxious for days. His old mother’s eyes were temporally blind due to excessive anxiety.
This family spent years of saving to send their only son to study in Australia. Hatch kept on preaching to his parents about how nice and friendly the Australian people are. He worked hard to fit into Australian culture, and truly believed in the inclusiveness, equality and Christianity he was told.
All Hatch wants is to be a contributor to the Australian community and society. He also wants to contribute to Australia’s information system industry by using his skills and experience. That is one of the reasons he took that job.
The cruel truth is that, even though Hatch had done nothing wrong, his human rights were violated in that regional town. He finally lost everything: his and his mother’s health, his opportunity to stay in Australia, his possible career in Australia, and most importantly, his trust in people. All his 3 years’ time and his family’s savings were wasted in vain.
Now he is like a squeezed orange and has nothing to loss now.

1) Hatch is a graduate of the Australian National University.

He has years of work experience in a Chinese steel company; he worked as an electrical engineer and then SAP PM(Plant maintenance) internal consultant in 3 factories. So, he is familiar with the equipment and asset in the steel industry. He came to Australia in 2019 and studied Master of Business Information Systems at ANU. According to his plans, he would have already got a permanent residency and start a new career now (10 Dec 2022). Tree Years in Australia is an adventure at the cost of years of his family’s savings. His parents live in China and Hatch is their only son. They don’t speak English.
After he came to Australia and joined the Churches in Canberra, he behaved and spoke justly according to the teaching of some ACT Churches, Such as “love your neighbour as yourself”. That is why when his landlord asked him for some private information, he wasn’t alert enough.
He reached out to university clubs, and societies, and try to make friends with different people. He even did a blood donation in Australia in 2020, when the stock of blood banks was decreasing due to the epidemic.
In order to blend in Australian culture, and find the friends sharing similar values. He thought all Australians are nice and kind, just as those he met in the ANU university dormitories, Churches, and Clubs.
2) Hatch’s landlord Season is a 50+ year fitter living in Whyallat for 20 years. Hatch found Season’ thoughts usually jump from one point to another without any logical connection, and he is very easy to get upset or excited. He would be angry and shout at Hatch for 10 minutes with fast language speed and non-related topics if Hatch made some small “mistakes” such as didn’t clean the surface of the oven after cooking. Hatch met Season’s wife Jessy the first day he moved in, and she told Hatch that her husband is easy to exiting. Hatch considered all those “symptoms” as Season’s special way of communication, as some people are not good at expressing their emotion.
The season works in Ri Engineering Whyallat, which is the contractor of Whyallat steel work. Whyallat Steelwork is the main customer of Ri Engineering. One day, Season told Hatch he spent one day fixing some equipment near the blast furnace in Whyallat Steelwork, but still have work to do the next day.
Season told Hatch his story: he had a wild history, and some Motor Club president in Melbourne owned him a favour and had some friends of his youth who finally enter the “crime industry”. If Hatch killed his dog, for example, he can make Hatch physically disappear in the bush. He knew clearly the laws about marijuana and the different feelings between taking marijuana and heroin. he had opened a casino before, and he told Hatch the gambling industry is full of cheating even between friends.
Hatch asked various questions about living in Whyallat. For example, Hatch found that there are not so many young people in Whyallat, and asked Season why. Season said most young people don’t like to live in the bush in Australia. This is the first time Hatch heard the expression “people live in the bush” in Australia, and ask what doesn’t mean exactly, because it sounds like some people are camping in the wild with bush around. Season laughed and explained to Hatch that bush means regional areas such as Whyallat.
The season was sometimes overly curious about Hatch’s personal information. He asked whether Hatch has relatives in Australia, whether Hatch’s parent's job, and whether Hatch has brothers, is signal or not several days after Hatch moved into his house. Hatch felt strange and asked why he asked those private questions, because he know in Australia, people don’t do that usually. The season explained to Hatch that they will become friends since they lived together and Hatch felt the explanation is reasonable at that moment.
Asking “how is your work” is a formula among people who live together, however, sometimes, Season wants Hatch to tell him what exactly happened in my work day.
The season takes lots of coffee and cigarette every day. In the beginning, Season lived next door to Hatch. Hatch was frequently waked up by the noise of toilet flushing and the electrical kettle in the night. Season sometimes doesn’t have a regular biological clock. So Hatch told Season he want to move to a studio which is independent from the main house. Later evidence shows that Season has had the mental disease for decades, has stocked lots of anti-psychotics drugs, paranoid probably one of his symptoms.
Season asked whether Hatch can get some business information from China, of which the first one is about some stainless steel plates, then some Press Brakes, Plate Roller and plasma cutting machine. This is not hard for Hatch. What Hatch need to do is to search on Google: for “The best 10 brands of Plate Roller in China” by Chinese, find the Website of those brands, and then find the contact numbers of sales persons.
Finally, Season only bought some stainless steel plates through Alibaba. During his negotiation with the saleswoman, Vivian, of that stainless steel plate company, he kept on complaining to Hatch about how stupid she is and threatened Vivian to end the enquiry several times. One time, when Vivian told him that the departure of the freighter had been delayed in Shanghai, but the cargo(stainless steel plate) had already arrived in Shanghai Port on 22nd, March, 2023. He refused to believe her and suspect her company is a corporate crook. He then asked Vivian to give a tracking number of the cargo. She told him that the shipment of the cargo don’t have a tracking number, but she only have the information about the ship from Shanghai to Sydney. That is reasonable because according to public information about that stainless plate company, it was founded in 2018 and had a registered capital of only 4 million AUD. Companies of that size normally don’t have an IT system to trace the cargo in China. Another reason was that the cargo was relatively small and was mixed with other cargoes to transport in China. Surely it didn’t have an independent tracing number. However, when Vivian told him that the tracking number is not available, he became furious because that explanation only confirmed his concern that Vivian was lying. He strongly demanded a refund and refused further communication with Vivian. Vivian told me the story and said if he apply for a refund, she will ask Alibaba to interfere and investigate, since she had evidence.
The season was angry and shouted out to Hatch that Vivian is a cheater, despite Hatch’s explanation about the whole thing such as most export companies in China are small or middle size, they don’t have a trace number system. He refused to accept Hatch’s explanation and shouted out some words like, China is the second largest economic entity in the world, not some Africa poor country! In Australia, we all have tracking numbers! This is how people do business! Hatch knew he is ignorant about China or other Asian countries since he spend most of his life in Melbourne and Whyallat, and considered his anger as a way of communication instead of a sign of racism or paranoia.
After confirming with his friend who do international business in Whyallat, and that friend told him some Chinese exporters usually don’t have tracing number for their customers, he finally realized that Hatch and Vivian were telling the truth, and smiled to Hatch again. Then, he said: “Hatch, how can I do this without you!”. You can see the typical racism here: the racists consider that all Asians are potential liars and cheaters in their eyes.
Season paid Hatch 200 dollars cash, and 450 dollars to Hatch’s account through the accountant of his employer, RI Engineering. Season asked Hatch to give Hatch’s account number to the accountant.
Season is a car expert, and repairing cars is his by-work. After knowing Hatch need a work car, Season sold his BMW X3 2008(average price 9000 dollars) to Hatch at the price of 5600 dollars, because Season said “We are friends”. This deal gained Hatch’s trust in Season, as later Hatch found that Season loves money, and he is hungry for money for his retirement saving.
Season said he had some unhappy experiences living with Indian tenants. He complained about some details, such as they like to bargain for the rent, they don’t know how to use washing machines and dishwasher, and usually don’t cook but eat outside.
Hatch explained to Season that life is not easy for some of the Asian residents in Australia, Asians need to save money, and rent is the biggest expense for Asians. In some Asian countries such as China and India, we don’t have smart dishwashers. Maybe smart washing machine is not popular in India, because they require lots of water, but water is not sufficient in India.
One time, when Season, his wife and Hatch are sitting together to chat. When he said something like Indians is bad according to his friend who does business with Asians, his wife Jessy suddenly angry and shout at him: “judgemental again! I told you!”.
Generally speaking, Hatch thought Season is a nice but odd and fussy(he described himself) person at that moment. Hatch told his mother two things about Season. The first one is that Season sold Hatch a BMW X3 2008 at a very low price, the second is Season asked Hatch to buy stainless steel plate from China.
But after Hatch came back from hospital the al to live together with Season again in April. Hatch’s father told Hatch that, according to the information collected by Tom from police or nurses, Season’s “wild history” contains: he was heroin overdosed so much as to be sent to the Whyallat hospital, possible criminal history?. The local police or nurses strongly suggested Hatch to move out from Season’s house. Since Season explained to Hatch the different feelings between taking marijuana and heroin in a conversation, and Hatch knew that marijuana is already legalized even in Canberra, and lots of Hatch’s Australian friends even support the decriminalization of Heroin(Hatch often tries to debate with them), Hatch ignored his father’s warning and thought that his parents worry is reasonable but they didn’t know the situation in Australia. Also, the living place is hard to find in Whyallat.
After Hatch re-entered the Whyallat hospital in June according to his case manager’s request(it is a very strange request), Hatch’s doctor asked Hatch if Hatch had been sexually assaulted by his landlord, as Hatch told his case manager and doctor that he would move to another apartment before. Hatch can sense his case puzzled them a lot, maybe because his case violates their medical experience. But in that moment, Hatch also didn’t know why Season interrogate him like that or what happened to him, and Hatch totally lost trust in people including the doctors or nurses in Whyallat hospital. His reason told him even if he told what Season had done to him, people won’t believe him as he is an outsider to the local community and he didn’t have evidence or witness at that moment. He also worried that some terrible things will happen to him if he expose this matter, as Season had made death threats to him.
So, when Hatch is asked if Hatch had been sexually assaulted by his landlord, Hatch didn’t tell the doctor and case manager the related truth.
3) Jessy is Season’s wife, an English teacher who works in an International school named Plympton International EduCattyion(https://plymptoncollege.sa.edu.au/contact/) in Adelaide, whose main students are overseas Chinese and Indians. Chinese is a mandatory course in that school and Jessy has lots of Chinese students. She can speak some Chinese sentences. Hatch and Jessy had a talk when he moved in. They talked a lot, and Hatch said he didn’t encounter racism in Canberra during the pandemic, but Hatch worried about the possible racism in Australia in the future, if the war happened between China and America. She asserted that Hatch doesn’t have to worry here.
The house Hatch lived was thin e community property of both Season and Jessy. Jessy wants to buy a house in Adelaide. So, Jessy moved Season’s name out of the ownership, then she can apply for more housing loans.
One day, after Hatch left the Royal Adelaide Hospital and continue to live with Season, Season sadly told Hatch to change the rent-receiving account from Season and Jessy’s joint account to Season’s individual account as the requested from Jessy.
When this incident happened, it happened in Jessy’s house, and Hatch paid money to Jessia and Season’s joint account.
4) Tom, is a China-born Australian citizen. It takes Hatch’s parents a long time to reach Hatch’s landlord Season and Hatch’s supervisor Kenny through Tonny. He was Hatch’s contact person when Hatch is in hospital.
5) FGF Alliance is a collection of global businesses and investments, owned by Sanjeev Gupta and his family. He is an outstanding and respected Entrepreneur. He bought WONE Steel( Whyallat Steelworks used to belong to WONE Steel) in 2017 when Whyallat Steelworks was on the edge of bankruptcy. FGF Alliance’s annual income is 20 billion. Whyallat Steelworks has two iron mines in Whyallat , whose products export most to China. FGF Alliance has a lot of related companies, in order to make things simple, Whyallat Steelworks in this article refer to all steel plants and mining plants in Whyallat. According to Catty, Hatch’s coworker’s saying, Hatch is the only Chinese employee in Whyallat Steelworks at that moment.
Whyallat is a small town with 21,742 population(2018) and around 7,000 people work for Whyallat Steelworks. Whyallat Steelwork is the economic pillar of Whyallat. Some people in Whyallat Steelwork may have a huge powerful influence over Whyallat, especially those who have lived or worked in the town for generations. They cover for each other against “outsiders”.
6) Hatch’s position was SAP PM Specialist. SAP is a PC-based ERP (Enterprise Resource Management ) software. Big companies use SAP modules to manage all parts of the business: such as Human Resource, Plant Maintenance, and the production and sales of iron ore, coal, etc. Hatch had experience in SAP EHP7 before 7th, 2019, then he came to Australia to study Master of Business Information Systems. His supervisor Kenny Flory(30+yeas old, her grandfather participated in the building of Whyallat steelwork’s first blast furnace, her father is a mechanic in Adelaide, her husband also works for FGF Australia, her family lives in Adelaide) is the leader of Shared Service Team, whose responsibility is all the shared IT services(mainly SAP) all around FGF Australia. FGF Australia uses a Service Desk platform to manage all the IT&SAP request from the end users. Hatch’s daily work included response and follow-up of the request tickets from that Service Desk platform.
Catty Larsen is the training coordinator with thirty years of experience in Whyallat steel. Catty worked as an SAP PM a key user(who represents all end users of SAP Plant Maintenance) for decades. She is also the work partner of Hatch. Both work for SAP PM(plant maintenance).
7) The Stern Hu case: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stern_Hu. In a thief’s eyes, everyone is a thief.
The understanding of the Stern Hu case is the key to understanding what happened on Hatch.
The mining company Rio Tinto negotiates the prices of iron ore with Chinese steel companies every year, thus the operational information, such as the iron ore stock, and annual output of Chinese steel companies play an important part in the negotiation. Stern Hu had stolen that information from dozens of Chinese steel companies and made use of it in the negotiation, finally helping Rio Tinto gain 100 billion American dollars in benefits from China market in four years, which is 10% of the Australian annual GDP.
Stern Hu may be the most successful business spy in human history. According to some news, Hu is said to have been cautious all his life, rarely using his mobile phone to answer calls. The Australian government used to consider trading Stern Hu with some Chinese prisoners in Australian jails.
You may be curious about why Stern Hu can steal business information from dozens of Chinese steel companies. The reason is the definition of national security in China is totally different from Australia. The operational information in those Chinese steel companies normally wasn’t considered national secrets. That is also why Hatch hadn’t figured out what happened to him until in October 2022 he read the old news of Stern Hu.
You will see in <HATCH Commissioning Enginner JustifiCattyion(explanation version)> , FGF Alliance blocked all Chinese. That is not because Australia had found some Chinese spies involved in stealing Australian companies’ business information(zero Chinese business spy has been found in history), but because of what an Australian citizen(Stern Hu) had done in China. Maybe stealing business partners’ business information is a norm in Australian companies, so FGF Alliance think Chinese steel companies who bought FGF Alliance’s iron ore would also do so, and I have the possibility to be that business spy.
a. But I resigned from that Chinese steel company in 2019, how could I or that Chinese steel company even knew that there would be an SAP PM Specialist vacancy in Whyallat Steelwork in 2022?
b. The SAP system has a strict authority distribution mechanism to protect the data in different modules. Hatch, as the SAP PM specialist, can only have access to equipment and maintenance information, which means even if Hatch is granted access to FGF Alliance Australia’s SAP production system, he cannot read the data of another PM module such as Production and Sales module which keep the information of the price and output of iron ore. He won’t have any access to the business information of iron ore exporting to China at any circumstances
Their suspicion is totally absurd. It is more like a systematic racism that assumes all Asians are potential liar and cheater.

8) The transition from SAP EHP7 to SAP HAHA with many legacy systems is a challenging task in the SAP industry. This transition is harder in Whyallat Steelwork. During the April cold shut(all the equipment stopped, and no imputed data to SAP ), the upgrade and modification of the configuration of SAP can be done in the system. Thus there will be lots of SAP work to be done in April 2022. The transition had a very tight schedule. There is not enough time for User Acceptance Test(UAT) for all new SAP modules, which means all modules will go live without enough tests. SAP PM (Plant Maintenance) module will have the most difficult situation since the user numbers of SAP PM is the largest among all SAP modules. There will be lots of work to do for Hatch and Catty Larsen from the beginning of April.
1. This article is a reminiscence
of what happened on me(Simon Hatch) from 5th Jan 2022 to 24th August 2022.
2. In Nov 2021, when I was studying the Professional Years
(a training plan as a transition from graduates to qualified workers) and accumulating my migration score(I have an immigration plan in Canberra) in Canberra, I got an interview opportunity from FGF Australia and successfully got an offer. Before I got that interview, I found finding a job too hard for international students and even prepared to leave Australia. I even told my pastor in a Canberra Church that I would consider to go back to China.
The position is SAP PM(Plant Maintenance) consultant, and it does not require Permanent Residency or any security clearance. The work description is similar to what I have done in China. If I cloud work there for 1 year, I don’t need the Professional Year any more and can apply for PR (Permanent Residency) in South Australia directly. So, I halted my Professional Year, accepted the job and ignored the headhunter’s repeating confirmation of whether I am happy to relocate to Whyallat, where the steel factory locates in.
(According to Australia’s migration policy, professional certification is mandatory for the applicant. You can get the professional certification through 1 year’s professional year or 1 year’s degree-related work. That is why I halt my Professional Year and accept Whyallat Steelwork’s job )

3. The work started in January.
if I didn’t like the job in Whyallat Steelwork, I would go back to Canberra and continue my PR plan in Canberra. However, I met some strange things in Whyallat :
Such as:
a) I only entered the factory for work twice before 8 th, April. The first time Kenny Flory and other coworkers took me to the main office to introduce me to colleagues in other departments at about 10 AM. After they left, I stayed in the office room, as there are two monitors on my office desk, which is very convenient for IT personnel. Then I left at about 1 PM, when I was driving home, Catty Larsen called me through Micro Team and ask where I am, and said a COVID case is detected in some place near our office and I should leave the office and go back home.
Another time, Kenny Flory arranged for me to attend two days of SAP PM(Plant Maintenance)training taught by Younger(The predecessor of SAP PM consultant in Whyallat Steelwrok). On the first day, I met Younger in the training classroom and talked to him. After back home, I received a call and Email describing a trainee in the class who was infected, with a request to take a Rapid Antigen Test in a Medical Testing Center which cannot be found on Google; and a request to stay at home for two weeks. The strange thing is that the Covid tester didn’t require my personal information such as my legal name.
I have worked there near three months but only stay in the factory for 12 hours. It looks like they don’t want me to stay in the factories for a longer time.
b) My role as SAP PM consultant was not indispensable in the Shared Service Team. My work partner, Catty Larsen, has worked in Whyallat Steelwork for thirty years and worked with the formal SAP PM consultant(Younger, who retired in Nov 2021) for 10 years as SAP PM(Plant maintenance) key user. She has a lot of knowledge of this company’s business and is totally capable of this SAP PM consultant position. Catty later became the SAP PM specialist in September.
c) When I remotely worked in Season’s house, Season seemed to only have to go to his company for 3 hours per day. For the rest of the day, he stayed with me. He explained that he is an old employee, and the boss respected him as an exemption.
d) We had a new SAP FI/CO(Financial and Costing) consultant, a kindhearted Philippine girl named Shary. One day in our weekly Zoom group meeting, when we discussed a technical issue, The Filipino girl said: “Hatch, that is easy, you can draw a diagram like....etc.” Then, another colleagues Canron suddenly silence her with an “er er” voice and a strange expression and eye. Shary left FGF Australian in November. Shary finally left FGF Australian in November 2022.
e) At the beginning of April, My supervisor Kenny Flory suddenly criticized me in the online Zoom meeting of SAP @ENABLE with a very angry attitude, because of my silence in the meetings.
f) At about 4:30 pm, on the 6th, of April, an urgent strange SAP change request was sent to me. It used cryptic language, trying to explain why an SAP consultant with black whole history? but know their equipment (I know steel equipment)is the best option because other options have refused to work on the site of Whyallat steelwork.. (recalled from the memory, may not be accurate). The requester urged me to submit the request to InfraBuild(the company that offers SAP configuration services ), as that SAP consultant was required to enter the site at 8:00 AM the next day on 7th, April. I submitted the request to InfraBuild as soon as I could without carefully looking into that request.
g) In the afternoon of 8th April, my supervisor Kenny Flory (Leader of FGF Australia shared service team) suddenly invited me to a one-to-one Zoom meeting. I had several one-to-one Zoom meetings with her before. She was always kind in those meetings. In this meeting, Suddenly, she changed her tone, and asked me to independently do lots of work in our team for 3 weeks, but can only ask for help two or three times from other skilled colleagues in the first week. For the second and third weeks, I have to do those work totally independently, and I couldn’t contact her because she would be on holiday. She especially warned me not to contact her on her holiday angrily. When she warned me strictly, she pointed at the camera with an extremely angry expression I would never forget or see before.

The job in FGF Australia is my fifth job in my life. In China, if a supervisor thinks someone doesn’t fit the job. The supervisor will tell him or her directly without any emotion. Most people won’t do that with a threatening tone.
I especially confirmed that the requirement of this role doesn’t conclude any Security Clearance or citizenship. You can apply with legal work right.
5. On the afternoon of 8th April.
It was very clear that she gave me a mission impossible and hope for me to resign.
8th April was Friday and I decided to resign next Monday 11th April( I was sent to ICU on that date morning). I had to leave FGF Australia and Whyallat without delay as soon as possible, as I had to go back to Canberra to continue my migration plan in 2022, or I would lose the immigration opportunity forever, which unfortunately finally happened.
(The required migration scores in Australia change over time, but my score will lower over time as I get old. I had a very narrow windows time in 2022 for getting PR in Canberra)
6. The evening of 8th April
On the evening of 8th April, I had been living in the individual studio for about 1 month. Since I decided to resign, I told my landlord Season that I will leave in a few days, and ask him to help sell my car, which I bought from him at the price of 5600 dollars. I explained to him that I might lose my job. He keep on asking me for more details, but it was hard to explain to him for me. He then tried to help me find some local jobs in Whyallat, such as a job in the fishery, etc. However, that didn’t help. Because if I want to get a Permanent Residency, I can only do the job related to an electrical engineering and SAP consultant. So, I told him I still decide to leave as soon as possible. He went back to the main house and then came to my studio to check on me. Since then, things became extremely terrible and ugly.
Evening of 8th April
It was like my landlord Season suddenly became another person I couldn’t recognize.
A) He stopped me from going out of the house with his body and restricted me in the house.
B) He kept asking me: Why did you come here? What do you what! What is your purpose here!
That was a really strange question because I told him that I got a job at Whyallat Steelwork after I moved in. I answered: “I come here for a better life”. Obliviously this is not an answer he is satisfied with. Then he said lots of strange things I couldn’t fully understand and confused me more.
C) I was totally shocked and confused, and didn’t know what is happening to me.
For nearly 3 months, I considered him a good friend, shared and everything with him, despite his bad temper(fussy as he said). The fact is that he used everything I told him to against me.
The evening of 8th April
I called my mother and tell her all the abnormal situations I met in my new work, and the landlord suddenly became another person, although those abnormal things also confused me. My mother is a bit sceptical about my words, because in the last 3 years, I kept telling my parent how nice the people I met in Australia are, and I told my mother how nice the landlord is(he sold me a BMX X3 with a low price, and paid me translation fee after I helped him finish a deal of stainless steel plate). Please note that my mom spent most of her life in a village. She is totally not capable to help me or understand me in this situation.
Being frightened by my landlord and being misunderstood by my mother frustrated him. when I was threatened and scared during the two days of captivity and interrogation, I didn’t respond to my parent’s calls.
Even if I answered their call, what can I say? How did I explain the things that happened to me to my parents, while I also didn’t know what was happening? My parents are Chinese ordinary old people who don’t speak English and have difficulty understanding my environment and the context. The more I explained to them, the more confused they would be.
7. On the night of 8th April.
I was totally shocked and confused, and couldn’t sleep all night.
8. On 9th April (24 hours without sleep, 20 hours without food)
The landlord kept on watching and interrogating me, with somewhat threatened
“What do you want, Hatch?” I still couldn’t figure out what he is asking. He then led me out of the house to start my car(I trust him so much to give him my spare car). He sat on the main driver’s seat, drive the car at high speed, run at the dangerous speed, and shout at me: “Imagine the car will crash the roundabout, in the second of you going to heaven, what would you think and what do you want. I was terrified and thought he would do harm to me or even kill me(He implied in a conversation before that he has some “friends” who could make me physically disappear if I killed his dog). After all, in his view, I am a rootless Asian graduate without any relatives or local connections in Australia(I told him everything about me).
He drove me around Whyallat, and kept asking “What do you want”, and “why did you come here”. “your last employer really treat you well, and sent you to study in Australia”. I felt confused more. I told him that I paid the tuition fee of ANU with my whole family’s savings, what did he mean by saying that?
After he made the death threat to me in the car, I am totally threatened. I felt more and more confused, but mechanically do all he told me to do.
In the evening, the landlord seemed a bit anxious, and try to get something from me. He said something very strange, and plan some things one by one.
For example, in the evening (9or10 or clock)of 9th April when it is very dark, he ask me to take his car to go to Whyalla Jetty. I didn’t respond to his request, but feel scared.

9. On 10th April(48 hours without sleep, 44 hours without food)
In the morning about nine o’clock, Season finally came up with some ideas. It looks he wanlike ts me to do a play or something.
He asked me to take a shower in the bathroom of my studio, and then run out of my bathroom with only short, cross the main house, and run to the street. I didn’t know why he asked me to do that. However, I hadn’t slept for 48 hours and had been continuously harassed by Season. All I want was to end this harassment as soon as possible by doing what he wanted me to do.
I didn’t know his purpose, so I wandered on the streets with only shorts for several minutes. When I returned from the street, he said I have to do it again. I couldn’t remember how many times I did that. This experience of humiliation totally traumatized me.
On the night of 10th May, I didn’t sleep for 60 hours. However, Season still didn’t want to leave me alone.
On the 10th afternoon, I sent a message to Season to ask “Can I go out?” in Chinese. I hadn’t slept or eaten for nearly 50 hours at that point. When you are extremely exhausted, your first instinct would be to use your first language.

On about 12 PM, He kept speaking something strange like: “Do you know why people don’t talk to you in Whyallat? “Australia is not heaven”. Then, an angry fire finally raised in me and I shout out:” why did you do this to me, I had some health issue, and now I am at the edge of death(64 hours without sleep)!” He didn’t believe at the first place.
Then, I led him to my studio and show him my medications.
Then, he asked my medicine invoices and blood test results. Then ask me some specific questions about that medication, and give some advice based on his own experience such as: medicine A is good, but B is rubbish. My wife Jessy likes medicine A. (he is not a doctor, how he knew this knowledge?)
10. On 11th April (60 hours without sleep, 56 hours without food)
I thought this would be the end of my hell. It didn’t. when it was already 3 o’clock in the morning. After confirming that I did have that health problem, he asked me to lay on the couch of the lounge, opened the TV to let me listen to music and gave me some sleep pills(this is the first time I take sleep pills, but it doesn’t work because I was in a threatened and scared status for 2 days), and then give two dry laughs: chi chi. Then, he left the lounge, entered the toilet room, and call a 50 years woman whose voice sounds like Catty Larsen, my work partner.
(On 10 Jun, I visit Season, and he mentioned that he only knows Catty Larsen and has her number. Until my resignation from that company, After working with my partner Catty for 4 months, Catty only contacted me through Microsoft Teams. I vaguely remembered one time I try to find her phone number in the intranet, but it only showed a fixed telephone number.)
Although I hadn’t slept for 67 hours, my hearing ability is not influenced. The conversation is:
Season:.....all clear, he has...
C: what if he is lying
Season: Hi, I know Hatch.
C: But we still don’t want him.
Season: Hi, ask Ben...
- .....
Season:....
The discuss between Season and the woman lasted for about 3 minutes, then he rechecked me. I still couldn’t sleep after 2 sleep pills.
After losing contact with me for 2 days, my mother in China finally reached someone, Tom, a China-born Australian citizen, to call my landlord Season and supervisor Kenny about 9 o’clock AM, 11th May to request they sent me to the hospital. Tom then became my contact person to communicate with nurses and police etc.
My parents were extremely worried and were nearly sleepless for two days. My mother’s eyes were even temperately blind.
(According to Tom’s statement, Kenny was very nervous when she received Tonny’s call, and said she didn’t prepare to fire me on a Friday afternoon, and invited Tonny to have a coffee when he visited Adelaide. When my mom want to talk with Kenny through Tonny, Tonny said it is better not because Kenny is frightened.)
Then I heard Season talk with that 50 years’ woman for a long time. Probably, they were talking about how to deal with me. After the call with that woman, Season became extremely impatient, and shout at me: “Hatch! You need to eat and see a doctor”. I was incapable of going to the hospital independently after 60 hours sleepless. After wandering for 5 minutes on the street, I came back to his house. The season seemed more anxious and angry after he realized I need help to go to the hospital. Then the cleaner came (she comes to clean the house every week)and he shout out: tell Catty to low my salary from 12 to 10, and I am quiet! It is a waste of time! I have already called the police and asked the ambulance to pick up Hatch!.
Sooner two women police came, and they asked various questions and I answered. Then, I took the police car and was sent to the hospital. When I sat in the ambulance car with another male police or nurse alone, he asked me: “Now we are alone, you can tell me if you have something to say”. I didn’t trust him after the trauma, so I didn’t respond.
In the hospital, I lay on the sickbed with tubes all over the body in the ICU. Because I were speechless and couldn’t explain to the nurse my purpose when I want to get up and pee, I began to unplug the tubes, blood and came out. Nurses came to plug the tubes. Finally, I pee on my pants.
Strange things continued: every nurse seemed nervous. Suddenly, one nurse appeared and spoke loudly to others: “if you don’t know how to do, ask Kenny.!” (Kenny Flory is my supervisor)
I stayed on the sickbed until the next day.
11. On 12th April (84 hours without sleep, 80 hours without food)
I was sent to another ICU, in the morning at about 9 O’clock. Lots of nurses came to see me, including two Chinese nurses or doctors, and some Asian nurses. Then, an Asian male nurse began to read a clinical synopsis loudly and walk around. They stayed in the ICU for about 1 hour and leave. Then, I heard that an Asian male nurse want to submit the synopsis to the nurse working in the service desk. The nurse said: it had already been submitted to Kenny.
The nurses working at the service desk began to talk:
A: What happened to him
B: Kenny said he is incompetent.
A: If that is true, why they recruited him?
B: Kennysaid they didn’t recruit him. It is he who insisted to come. The person they recruited is Simone(an IT administrator in the Share Service Team), not Simon.
I felt more confused when I heard their conversation. But I’m definitely sure that Kenny was telling different stories to different people.
12. Transfer to the Royal Adelaide office.
I was transferred to another ward. The Whyallat Hospital decide to transfer me to the Royal Adelaide office. I had a good sleep on the flight.
In the Royal Adelaide office, the doctor prescribed me some medicine to help me sleep. One day, a Malaysian social worker led me to go shopping(I am an inpatient). She told me don’t try to run out, as some told her that I am a work order.
When I was in the hospital, my supervisor Kennytold Tonny(my contact person) that she didn’t want to fire me. I vaguely felt that there are lots of misunderstandings there, but I couldn’t figure out the reason at that moment. So, I tended to think that those misunderstandings had been clarified at that moment, and they really want me back to work.
When I left the Royal Adelaide office, the doctor gave me a Certification Of Sickness and said I should be able to resume working on the 27th,04. Kenny also visited me and said she would like to take me back to work, but she required me to get approval from a local doctor to indicate my status is good enough for work.
It takes almost a month to get that approval. When I began to work, Catty and Kenny started to arrange some difficult tasks for me. They were trying to postpone my return to work until the end of my prohibition period, and at the same time, stop me from contacting other colleagues in Whyallat Steelwork. You can see only those people with specific knowledge are allowed to engage Hatch. In my case, they are Kenny and Catty. Other employees shouldn’t know about this matter.

One day, Kenny invited me to go to the office building. She was with another HR person. She began to said:
- I am not qualified for the position, of SAP PM Function Consultant.
- Things have changed, you have changed.
I thought that some misunderstand are clarified, and I can continue my work. But I was wrong again. You will find they not only wanted to kick me out of the company but also wanted me to be kicked out of Australia forever, in which case their organized crime won’t be exposed.
Finally, I agreed to resign on 23rd June.
I tried to ask Season and Kenny for an explanation about what happened to me. They both refused to recognize their involvement and refused any further negotiation.
15. Find another job and the Stern Hu case
I found another job on 12 th, July. The position was an electrical engineer. I liked that job. However, my mother was sick because of the over anxiety in this incident. I had left home for 3 years, I felt it is time to temporarily go back home to take care of my mother. So, I booked a flight ticket for 23rd August.
When I was at home in China, I had time to recall all memory and tried to figure out what happened to me.
One day in October, I unintentionally find a case named” The Stern Hu case: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stern_Hu. All my questions were swept away.
F) The truth
I spent months investigating what happened to me, and below is my conclusion.
It is all about saving human resource costs. Hatch’s only fault is his Chinese identity, and China happens to be Whyallat Steelwork’s biggest customer of their iron ore.
In November 2021, Younger(the former SAP PM consultant )retired. The company recruited him as an SAP PM trainer, but his pay rate per hour is very high(maybe 80dollars per hour). Kenny was tasked to find an SAP PM Specialist meeting the requirements:(see HATCH Commissioning Engineer Justification(explanation version))
- have maintenance experience in a steel company, thus knowing their asset.
- Willing to work on-site in Whyallat Steelwork
- Willing to accept the salary of that position(110,000 per year)
- Have experience in other SAP projects, and know the best practice of SAP PM
- Have a security clearance, or he/she isn’t a business spy for Whyallat Steelwork’s competitor or customer

This is an impossible pentagon, but the managers always wants the best efficiency with the lowest human resource cost.
- If someone has worked in other steel companies and know the best practice of SAP PM, he/she might be a business spy for Whyallat Steelwork’s competitors or customers. (1+4)!=5.
- If someone meets the requirement of 1)5)4)3), normally he/she refuses the site involvement. (1+5+4+3)!=2. local IT talents normally refuse to relocate to small towns and work on-site. The environment of steel plants is very terrible.
- If someone meets the requirement of 1)2)4)5), he/she normally demands more salary (far more than 110,000 per year. Probably 200,000 per year). (1+2+4+5)!=3.
- If someone meets the requirement of 1)2)3)4), very likely he only has work right, not Security Clearance in Australia.(1+2+3 +4)!=5. That is Hatch’s situation. That is also the migrants' role: to do the things which local people don’t want to do.
If they want to recruit a foreigner met their requirement, that foreigner has an 80% possibility to be Chinese. That is because India and Chinese are the only two Asian countries that have lots of steel industry and export migrants to Australia, and Chinese steel production is five times as much as India.
SAP PM specialist(function consultant) is a permanent position, after discussing with the managers in the company, Kenny decided to give Hatch an offer and “watched” Hatch during the probation period, as it is the most “economical” way to get a “qualified” talent. She actually assumed Hatch is a potential liar, cheater and spy, and tries to find evidence, the same as Season the landlord did.
Please notice that they can also hire two SAP PM specialists: one senior SAP PM specialist from a consultancy company like Deloitte as temporary remote support with a high salary during the upgrade period; at the same time hire Catty as the permanent junior SAP PM specialist. Just as what they did after they forced Hatch to resign. But doing so will increase the costs of human resources.
You can see finally Whyallat Steelwork hired Catty(Hatch’s work partner) as the SAP PM specialist on 17th September 2022. In June 2022, Kennytold me that some consultant in Deloitte was also working on the SAP PM project.

Obviously, this “two PM specialists” solution is plan B, because they were not confident that Catty can solve all the problems during the upgrade. They need a senior SAP PM specialist to help Catty during the upgrade period. After the upgrade was finished, Catty may take over the position of SAP PM specialist.
Another reason, as Kenny had told me in the interview, and my observation of their SAP system, is that their SAP system was configured more than ten years ago, the PM module has the most problems in SAP, and no one in their company knew how to solve them. They realized they need someone from another steel company who solved similar problems before. Especially when they knew I worked for Accelor Mittal Group(the largest steel company in the world) and am familiar with that corporation’s PM module, they decided to give me a chance, which actually was a trip.
I, Simon Hatch, became their plan A. Because I am cheaper and can bring new solutions to their problem. The only problem is my Chinese identity.
During the April cold shut(all the equipment stopped, and no imputed data to SAP ), the upgrade and modification of the configuration of SAP can be done in the system. Thus there will be lots of SAP work to be done in April, 2022. After discussion, the managers decided to do a one-off (or once-off) clearance toward Hatch, to permanently exclude the possibility of Hatch being a business spy. So, they paid the money-hungry landlord, Season, to do that one-off (once-off) clearance.
Those people discussing the one-off clearance towards me in the email don’t know Season have the mental disease for decades and has years of drug abuse history(was sent to ICU because of heroin abuse).
Paranoid is one of the symptoms of Season’s mental disease. His brain is damaged.
Kenny’s Zoom meeting in the afternoon of 8th, April was also part of the One Off Clearance. Kenny deliberately scared me to imply she would fire me in the Zoom meeting in order to let Season to see my response. If I prepared to leave, they assumed that I was afraid of something I plan to do. For example, potential business spying.
When Season heard that Hatch said “I may lose my job”, Hatch prepare to leave Whyallat to Canberra as soon as possible. His paranoia confirmed that Hatch is a business spy, just as he confirmed that Vivian, the stainless plate saleswoman, was a crook because she told him the transportation of the stainless plate had been delayed.

Then, he planned to interrogate Hatch. Nevertheless, Hatch just wanted to go back to Canberra to continue his migration plan ASAP, since what Kenny had done was to force him to resign in the Zoom meeting. Staying in Whyallat is meaningless to him.
After two days of interrogation, Season got nothing from Hatch. But the hunger for money and his paranoid blinded Season’s mind.
Finally, Season realized he made a mistake, he was very angry(he is easy to get exiting according to Jessy, his wife’s remark), and called the ambulance. After Hatch was sent to the ICU, the whole incidence began to lose control.
The nurses and doctors knew about this incident now. Kenny had to tell the nurses another story(see 11 On 12th April). If the truth is revealed to other people, it would be a scandal for the company. So, the managers decided to let Hatch go, even if Hatch had passed this cruel “one-off clearance”.
They hired an SAP PM specialist from Deloitte after Hatch’s resignation. When the transition from SAP EHP7 to SAP HANA is finished in September, they give the position “SAP PM specialist” to Catty Larson, Hatch’s work partner. That is plan B they finally implemented.
