This is a big day for all of Sun. We're very happy with how Q2 turned out – you'll hear more about that from Mike Lehman later today. And, we just announced the exciting news that we're acquiring MySQL. For those who don't know them, MySQL is one of the fastest growing and most popular open source databases in the world, and this acquisition positions Sun at the center of the most important companies on the web, with brands known across the world. You'll have plenty of opportunity to learn all the details on SunWeb and sun.com. This is the kind of news that's going to get every media outlet buzzing, too, and we'll pull that into a digest form, as well.

I'll have a lot more to share about our internal plans in the next few weeks and months, but for now, I'd like to invite you to read what's on my blog - a high level of analysis of why we're acquiring MySQL, and where we hope to go next. In sum, our quarterly performance and this acquisition combine to make great news for developers, for customers, and most importantly, for Sun's employees and shareholders.
