Oracle 6i Home and 10g Home and Work Flow Home Install

1.                Uninstall and install Oracle 6i:

1.1  Uninstall:

If now you have already installed Oracle 6i,then you want to uninstall it, please belows teps:

1)     Open Control Panel, search Service and stopevery ORACLE service.

         GO: Control Panel->Service->Oracle relateditems

2)     Run REGEDIT, chooseHKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ORACLE, and press delete to delete this entrée,choose HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\” YOUR HOME”,  and press delete to delete this entree.

 

 

Note: Please find the correct home you want to remove.

 

3)      ChooseHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\OracleClientCachenet80，pressdelete to delete this entrees and OracleClientCachenet80.

 

4)     Delete the entire files related oracle.

5)     Delete the file c:\orant (if you put it in d:\....), find it and delete it.

6)      Deletethe relate file in your start menu.

1.2  Install:

Now for installing your oracle 6i home you need to double click “setup.exe”   file to install oracle 6i, please find belowsteps:

1)      Firstly,as my strongly suggestion, please install your oracle 6i home in your disk D,Create a folder name it “Oracle”.

Note: Please do not give a space and Chinese word to yourfile path if your environment is in English.

 

2)      Theninstall REPORT and FORM by choose the folder path is “D:/Oracle………” 

1.3  Testing:

Aslong as you install the oracle 6i home, then find the path“D:\Oracle\Ont_6i\NET80\ADMIN\tnsnames.ora”. Change the require detail in yourfile, open SQL plus 8.0 to test if your client can work. 

1.4  ERROR occurs:

First time to open from and import file“TEMPLETE.fmb”, it shows:

FRM-18108: Failed to load the following objects.

SourceModule: APPSTAND

…………

.………….

Solution:

Down load the resource folder from UNIX server, add the local path to your FORMS60_PATH, findbelow picture.

 

 

2.                Uninstall and install Oracle 10g:

2.1  Uninstall: Please find steps in“Uninstall and install Oracle 6i: (1.)”

2.2  Install:

1)     First you need to change your Virtual memory,right click your computer, choose properties, go Advanced system settings, findAdvance Performance Settings, then choose Advance in Performance Options andfind Virtual memory press Change, enable Automatically manage paging file sizefor all drives then enable Custom size, let your Initial size (MB): 400 andyour Maximum size (MB): 2048, press set.

 

2)      Rightclick setup.exe, choose Compatibility enable the Run this program incompatibility mode for: choose Windows XP (Service Pack 3).

 

3)     As my strongly suggestion, please install youroracle 10g home in your disk D, Create a folder name it “Oracle”.

Note: Please do not givea space and Chinese word to your file path if your environment is in English.

4)     Then double click the setup.exe file to installyour Oracle 10g home.

2.3  Testing:

Aslong as you install the oracle 10g home, then find the path“D:\Oracle\Dev_10g\network\ADMIN\tnsnames.ora”. Change the require detail inyour file, open SQL plus to test if your client can work.

2.4  ERROR occurs:

1)     When I install the oracle 10g, I click setup.exefile and it show me “setup.exe has stopped working”

Reason:

Your installer is under a path which has a spaceor Chinese word.

Solution:

Change the installer to another path which doesnot have any space and Chinese word.

2)     If open your form and show error like 6i, pleasefind Uninstall and install Oracle 6i (4.). Down load the resource folder fromUNIX server, add the local path to yourFORMS_PATH, find below picture.

 

3.                Uninstall and install Work Flow:

3.1  Uninstall: Please find steps in“Uninstall and install Oracle 6i: (1.)”

3.2  Install:

1)     Right click setup.exe, choose Compatibilityenable the Run this program in compatibility mode for: choose Windows XP(Service Pack 3).

2)     As my strongly suggestion, please install youroracle Work Flow home in your disk D, Create a folder name it “Oracle”.

Note: Please do not givea space and Chinese word to your file path if your environment is in English.

3)     Then double click the setup.exe file to installyour Oracle Work Flow. Find below picture:

3.3  Testing:

Aslong as you install the oracle Work Flow Home, then find the path“D:\Oracle\Dev_WorkFlow\network\ADMIN \tnsnames.ora”. Change the require detailin your file, open Oracle Workflow Builder 2.6.3 to test if it can work.

3.4  ERROR occurs:

1)     If the first time you try to open OracleWorkflow Builder 2.6.3 show some errors, try to right click it and run asadministrator.

2)     After you install your workflow home, when youuse toad to open your 6i home data base, it show error: ORA-12222: TNS: no suchprotocol adapter

Reason and Solution:

It becauseyou choose the default home is work flow home you need to change the defaulthome to oracle 6i.
