ESIC Sr Resident & Specialist Final Results 2015

Workers' State Insurance Scheme of India, is a multi-dimensional social security-system tailored to offer socioeconomic protection to worker people and their dependants covered under the scheme. Besides complete medical care for self and dependents, which is admissible from day-one of insurable employment, the insured persons may also be eligible for various money benefits in times of physical misery because of illness, temporary or permanent disablement etc. 

Resulting in reduction of earning ability, the confinement in respect of insured girls, dependents of insured individuals who die in industrial accidents or because of work injury or occupational hazard are entitled to a monthly pension called the dependents gain.

The scheme was inaugurated in Kanpur on 24th February 1952 (ESIC Day) at the same time Prime-Minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. The site was the Brijender Swarup Park, Kanpur and Panditji resolved a 70,000 powerful party in Hindi in the existence of Pt.Gobind Ballabh Pant, Chief Minister Uttar Pradesh; Babu Jagjivan Ram, Union Labour Minister; Raj Kumari Amrit Kaur, Union Health Minister; Sh.Chandrabhan Gupt, Union Food Minister and Dr.C.L.Katial, the first Director-General of ESIC.

The scheme was concurrently established at Delhi as well as well as the first coverage for the branches was 1,20,000 workers. Our first Prime-Minister was the very first honorary insured individual of the Scheme as well as the declaration type bearing his signature is a prized property of the Business Organization.

It is necessary to mention here that it blossomed as the primary social security system in 1944, when the Government. of the day was nevertheless British.The first record on social insurance was "Report on Health Plan" submitted to the Tripartite Labour Convention, headed by Prof. B.P.Adarkar, an eminent scholar and visionary. The Report was acclaimed as a worthy record and fore-runner of the social protection system in India and Prof. Adarkar was recognized as "Chhota Beveridge" by the one and only Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Mister Beveridge, as all know, was among the priests of insurance. The report was approved and Prof. Adarkar always been actively connected with it till 1946. Via a professional from ILO he ardently recommended direction of the Scheme on his disassociation. In 1948 Dr. C.L.Katial, an eminent Indian physician from London took over as the 1st Director-General of ESIC and he directed the matters of the unfledged Scheme till 1953.
