Earth Day (remember, earth day is April 23)
Earth day is coming soon, and I think it is important for people to understand the importance of recycling. It is disappointing to see so much waste in this country. I see people in my neighborhood dispose of newspapers, empty food boxes, telephone books, and other things that can be recycled. I also see people throw away things that can be given away and reused, such as clothing, books, furniture, and even television sets and computers. I also see people throw away hazardous household materials like cleaning products and paints that should be disposed of on a separate collection day. We don’t have room for all of this waste.
We can’t contaminate our communities with toxic waste. Starting now, people should find ways to reduce waste. Look at what’s in your garbage, and try to reduce by half. Recycle paper. Donate materials to a charity, a church, or a library. Don’t throw away hazardous household materials-find out where to dispose of them in your community. On earth day, let’s be kind of the earth-and ourselves.
