Software Process Improvement Capability dEtermination
There are two main standards used to perform assessments:
»ISO/IEC 15504 (SPiCE)
»Automotive SPiCE (based on ISO/IEC 15504)
ISO/IEC TR 15504 is the international standard for Software Process Assessment.
ISO/TS16949 starts with broad, general processes and drills down as needed
SPiCE & CMMI:
–SPiCE is European-driven
–CMMI is North American-driven
–Rating is similar (for CMMI Continuous)
–SPiCE focuses on a single project or family of projects to determine capability to support the project
–CMMI typically looks at multiple projects to determine organizational capability
Processes for Automotive SPiCE & ISO/IEC 15504 are organized into 3 Process Categories:
–Primary Life Cycle
–Supporting Life Cycle
–Organizational Life Cycle
HIS Scope:
–Defines a basic subset of processes to be evaluated
–Related to the V-model
Planning is a key element to succeed! – Project plans shall be created as soon as the project starts.
