Network Protocol Pages These pages contain information detailing the different header formats for common networking protocols. They started out as documentation for SendIP but kindof grew off at a tangent from that. They do not, largely, contain any information on when you might want to use the various fields, or even what you might want to set them to, merely what you can set them to. Most of the infomration here comes straight out of the relevant RFCs. More protocols and updates will be added over time, as and when I need them or somebody asks for them. Internet Control Message Protocol. Used to communicate status and error messages between IP hosts.

IPv4

Internet Protocol. The protocol which encapsulates almost everything else seen on the internet. Version 4 is widely used, but version 6 also exists and is used.

TCP

Provides reliable delivery of data (as a bi-directional byte stream) over an IP network.

UDP

Provides multiplexing and data-integrity over an IP network without the overhead of TCP
