ELSEBODY'S WIFE -- A FAREWELL
by KAKUJI FUNEGATA
Detailed and clear, I can still remember
How I met thee from the past of my life.
With blushing fear, not until December
Did I dare to ask thee to be my wife.
Ambiguity cleared by thy expressive face.
I thought that's enough and that be the end
When thou turned and answered with amazing grace
That please don't be sad, for I can be friend.
There's nothing more I want to let thee know
But thy words sliced me like a slashing knife.
My bleeding heart's blending the fact that thou
Art somebody's friend, and elsebody's wife.
For what's done is done and what's gone has gone,
I fare thee well and get back on the run.
