ubuntu

Yestoday,I installed Ubuntu on my laptap.But there were no applications on it.SO today,I spent almost one day learning how to install software under Ubuntu.

Firstly, I read some FAQ and articals on LinuxSir's website.Because Ubuntu is based on Debian, I learned some background knowladge of Debian too. Finally I knew how to use apt,dselect,synaptic to update my packages,but I was confused by the name of Debian's dist(So many!).Hehe, fortunately, it was not important to me now! Using synaptic,I downloaded and installed binutils,gcc,linux-header files,linux-source and make. And the most important one point was that I knew how to customize my init process (use command "update-rc").Oh,I forgot one importmant thing :source list.Although I didn't know the meaning of paras after the URL, Ubuntu could update normally now!

Now, I want to conclude some feelings about Ubuntu:
1) The installation is very friendly.
2) Because thers are no other packages installed by default,so it's fast to install.But you need update it through network and a good performance of network is important for Ubuntu.
3) I didn't find any runlevel which is multi-user and gdm (X11) stopped.So I must change the init process by myself.I think this is not very good!
4) Ubuntu is not very friendly to my USB mouse and touchpad.When I reboot, my mouse can't work.Reboot it again,the mouse worked wellagain. And the touchpad was not very good to use.I didn't know whether it's need to set some conf file for them?

OK,that's all.I should install the NVIDIA driver now!Bless me successful!
