SVN totally fails for me now.
It's erratic. I was having limited success setting the URL as http://username:password@www.servername.compassword@www.servername.com -- but that was also inconsistent. It would sometimes connect, but then on relaunching XCode, it would ask for a password. In any case, I could not reliably use it. Beta 6 and earlier had issused, but worked.
I'm running SVN 1.6.16 on Red Hat. HTTP.
Now, for the client, I use the commandline, and also the SmartSVN gui app.
