S60 Web Runtime "Widgets" is a portable and lightweight application framework that makes mobile web apps easy. It is an extension to the Webkit based browser engine on the S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2 (aka 3.2) Software Platform - that allows instances of the browser to be run as if they are applications. One the most immediate advantages offered by WRT is the ease with which they can be created - using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Web Runtime Technology allows small applications called "Widgets" to be easily distributed and installed. The emphasis is on connected and online web applications, but there are plenty of "offline" use cases as well.

Did you know? While every S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 device will include Web Runtime support, already multiple S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 devices (such as Samsung SGH-G810, SGH-i450, SGH-i550, SGH-i560 and LG-KT610) include Web Runtime support, as well as selected Nokia S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 devices via sotware update (from the following sw onwards): Nokia N95 8GB sw 15.0.015, Nokia N95 sw 21.0.016, Nokia N82 sw 20.0.062. Get the updated sw through Nokia Device Software Updater and start playing with it!
