Nvidia CUDA2.0 CPU PhysX

NVIDIA宣布将在6月17日发布CUDA 2.0平台,新增双精度运算支持,有望大幅提升生物科学和流体仿真的准确性。同时,NVIDIA还推出了基于ARM11架构的Tegra系列处理器,旨在为智能手机、MID及Netbook等设备提供高性能的单芯片解决方案。

NVIDIA 將在 6 月 17 日跟隨 GeForce GTX 200 家族同日發佈 CUDA 2.0 平台,加入雙精確 (Double Precision) 運算支援,為應用提供更準確的運算結果,以氣像預測為例, Dr. David Kirk 指出有研究使用 GeForce 8800 GTX 對比 Pentium D 2.8GHz 用於 WRF 模式氣像運算,發現 GeForce 8800 GTX 擁有 17 倍的效能優勢, Cost per FLOP 則約為 1.2X 。值得注意的是,該研究亦指出該測試尚未為 GPU 作任何優化,相信未來效能增長更為顯著。研究文獻 : http://www.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/WG2/michalakes_lspp.pdf

看到这个信息的时候,为之一振,这下应该会有更多的朋友能用CUDA进行开发了~有了双精度,对生物,流体仿真都会有更好的支持。

NVIDIA宣佈跨進CPU市場 定名TEGAR系列 採用ARM 11架構:
NVIDIA 2 日於台北舉行記者會宣佈推出媲美桌上型電腦高畫質和網路使用體驗的單晶片電腦產品,並將 PC 視覺運算效能帶進各種可攜式行動裝置,正式跨進處理器事業,採用 ARM 11 架構並加入 NVIDIA GeForce 繪圖核心,並命名為 Tegra 系列處理器,針對 Smartphone 、 MID 及 Netbook 市場,其單晶片設計內建了處理器、繪圖核心及南北橋功能,預計首款採用 NVIDIA Tegra 處理器的產品將於今年底正式面市。

so cool~这样就不必要进行host和device数据交换上的耗时了,至少比现在的要少很多。不采用x86架构也不必为intel付钱,哈哈~有点这个嫌疑~或许是看到了intel当年走了一条失败的路,nvidia先选择嵌入式来做尝试……期待……

被問及到能否將 PhysX 套用在 ATI 產品上, Manju Hegde 指出,這是一件十分容易的事,並舉例原 AGEIA 團隊只需一個月便完成新版 PhysX 驅動程式的開發工作,只要 AMD 願意開放如 CUDA 般的 API ,他們樂意為 ATI 產品加入 PhysX 運算功能,讓用家得益。
