A plump body with eight slender arms and a soft body that constantly changes color under the light is one of the hundreds of fish in Fran's house, the mimicry octopus. The mimicry octopus is a Marine creature that is one of nature's greatest camouflage masters. This very soft animal can change color and shape at will, the normal body color is brown with spots, can simulate a variety of environments and other Marine life, very amazing.
Frank, whose real name is Chen Wen, was certified as a Marine biology science blogger in 2018. Frank started his fish-farming career in 2014 when he came across salt-water fish and discovered they were abundant, varied, colorful and inexpensive.
Because Frank knew so many fish and had known so many fish merchants over the years, the merchants would ask him for an answer whenever they came across an unknown fish. As a result, he has access to rarer fish.
In frank's first few years after graduation, he often went to the seaside of Qingdao and Hainan to fish wild, bringing back his favorite fish from thousands of miles away. Until now, he still buys fish every week.
When Frank was asked why he liked it so much. Frank was surprised. "Like why? Love does not need a reason, just like." It's hard to tell. Frank raises fish like an Englishman or a golden retriever. He already has a dozen tanks and hundreds of fish.
That kind of pure, just out of love and can not resist the urge to share, infected many people around and off screen.
Raising sea creatures gives Frank the pleasure of observation and discovery, a completely random self-expression. For example, explain squid to the audience today, explain other fish to the audience tomorrow, and so on
"I know something that maybe a lot of people don't know, and putting it out there helps a lot of people know."
Frank would get a sense of accomplishment by giving information that was not visually useful but sounded interesting. For example, sharks are generally oviviparous and oviparous, with some giving birth directly to young sharks and others hatching from their eggs. "It's something most people don't see in their lives."
These videos may help parents and children go to the aquarium for more than just a laugh. The detailed knowledge in the video, apart from frank's personal accumulation, is the seven years of continuous purchase of Marine biology books to learn.
"The UK, the United States, Japan have, encountered not seen to check the guide, and even look up the latest research papers at home and abroad."
When exposed to more, Frank discovered that fish don't have a seven-second memory. Fish have a long-term memory. The octopus was well fed and stretched out its arms for food as soon as he entered.
One day, one of the fish died, and the other fish sat around him for six or seven hours, diving under him and trying to help him up.
This behaviour, which Frank had observed for the first time, does not prove anything by chance, but raises the possibility that fish not only have long memories and considerable intelligence, but that they may be capable of complex emotions that have not yet been demonstrated in humans.
BBC once filmed a toothfish, it will hold the shell against the rock, broken before eating, this is very high intelligence.
"Human knowledge of the ocean is very limited, and the conclusions drawn so far are based on current knowledge, and what seems right now may not be true decades or even centuries from now." Frank said.
He says there is a lack of knowledge about Marine life in the country. What are the habits of fish? What does it do when it's courting? What kind of action? Some fish have beautiful colors. Under what circumstances do they have this color? What was it? Temperature or food?
"There's a lot of research on commercial fish, but there's almost no research on ornamental fish."
In addition, Frank raised fish for seven years and found that in some places fish went from there to nowhere. Some species are simply disappearing, whether through man-made damage such as pesticides or overall environmental degradation.
Frank likens his videos to a "nature education class", "letting people know that there are Marine creatures, that they've seen them, that they've learned about them, that they have a deep memory of them, and that the children who watch his videos may grow up to try to protect them in case they become endangered."
Now he is still trying to shoot various rare fish videos. Besides loving fish, he also wants to tell people who follow him that "sea creatures do not live to bring something to human beings, they do not serve human beings. We cannot judge the value solely by what benefits it can bring to human beings. Frank said.
"They swam in the water like elves in the sky." That's what the owner of “binfu fishery” said to me.
As early as more than 20 years ago, Huang Yongqing came to Guangzhou with only tens of thousands of yuan on his back. With his love for fish, he began his way of fish culture.
"At that time, it was very poor. If you wanted to get rid of the current situation, you had to go all out and come to Guangzhou for development."
In 2001, Huang Yongqing came to Guangzhou. He opened a small fish shop. Although it was small, it was also his only hope. At the beginning of fish farming, there were dead fish in the store every day, which once made him very painful. However, under the introduction of a friend, he met a man with many years of experience in fish farming, so Huang Yongqing finally began his "open" life. After several years of precipitation, he went farther and farther on the road of fish farming, and his business was getting better and better. There are not only many fish farms in Guangzhou, but also many of them have been opened until today.
"At that time, I was very crazy about raising fish. I think it is also very crazy now. There are more than 50 large and small fish tanks in my home, and the maintenance cost is as high as nearly 10000 yuan every month."
When Huang Yongqing was asked why he loved fish so madly, he replied: "I think it's not just love, but more because of them that I can have me now." "It is those fish that have created wealth for me. It makes my life better."
