Find the variable pp_paf_protest_ir and produce the appropriate descriptive statistics, given its level of measurement, to describe its central tendency and distribution. [10 marks] 

Create and analyse a binary variable as follows:

Please create a new binary variable, based on pp_paf_protest_ir, indicating attending protests once a year or more often (with a value of 1) versus doing so less often or never (with a value of 0). Tabulate your new variable and the original variable (pp_paf_protest_ir) to check that your recoding was successful, and paste the Stata output in your answer. [5 marks]

Now describe the distribution of your new binary variable. [5 marks]

Find the variable sc_friends_eth_c and produce the appropriate descriptive statistics, given its level of measurement, to measure its central tendency and distribution. [10 marks]

Analyse the relationship between two continuous variables:

Choose a continuous variable other than sc_friends_eth_c. Now produce a correlation of your chosen variable and sc_friends_eth_c. Report Pearson’s R and the significance of the correlation. [2 marks]

Now, create a scatter plot of the two variables, including a line of best fit and appropriate axis titles. [5 marks]

Describe the relationship between the two variables. [3 marks] 

Using the variable pr_ssh_b as the independent variable and the variable pv_mpps_mv as the dependent variable, analyse the relationship between them using a t-test and describe the results. [15 marks]

Choose one of the following two questions (6 or 7) to answer. You should only answer one of these questions:

OLS regression:

Describe and interpret the results of the bivariate regression. [5 marks]

Choose two control variables and analyse appropriate descriptive statistics for each of them, given their levels of measurement. [5 marks]

Produce a multiple OLS regression with the dependent variable pv_mpps_mv, the independent variable priv_trustgrid_scale, and your two control variables. Present the model in a clearly formatted table. [10 marks]

Describe and interpret the results of the multivariate regression. [10 marks]

Choose two assumptions of regression and use the appropriate checks to test them in relation to your multivariate model. Analyse the results of your checks and whether the assumptions have been broken. [10 marks]

Logistic regression:

Produce a bivariate logistic regression with binary indicator of attending protests (coded for question 2. a.) as the dependent variable and the independent variable priv_trustgrid_scale, and present the model in a clearly formatted table. [5 marks]

Describe and interpret the results of the bivariate regression. [5 marks]

Choose two control variables and analyse appropriate descriptive statistics for each of them, given their levels of measurement. [5 marks]

Produce a multiple logit regression with the binary indicator of attending protests (coded for question 2. a.) as the dependent variable and the independent variable priv_trustgrid_scale, and your two control variables. Present the model in a clearly formatted table. [10 marks]

Describe and interpret the results of the multivariate regression. [10 marks]

Produce a classification table to observe the predictive fit of your model, and a margins plot for the key independent variable. Analyse the results of your classification table and margins plot
