1.live和stay的区别：

stay：停留，待 ，代表短期居住    live代表长期居住

e.g.

How many days do you want to stay? 你想要住几天呢？

I have lived in Taipei for  three years. 我已经在台北住三年了

I will stay in that hotel when I am in New York. 当我去纽约时会住在那家旅馆

This weekend I am going to stay at a friend's house. 这个周末我要待在朋友家里过夜

I live with a friend in a small apartment. 我和朋友住在一间小工具里

dorm 宿舍   apartment 公寓

2.Are you all ears?准备好了吗？

Can I be friends with you? 我可以和你做朋友吗？

I'm single. 我单身

I'm married. 我已婚

3. What are the rates?=What are the charges?=What are the prices? 价格怎么算？

e.g.What are your rates for tutoring at a student's home?你到学生家里去当家教的费用怎么算？ 

tutor 当家庭教师（v），家庭教师（n）

rate 价格，费用；速度，速率

at a rate of ...  以...的速度或速率

e.g.The chicken lays eggs at a rate of one egg a day.那只鸡一天下一个蛋

lay 下蛋   lie 平躺，撒谎

I'm （a） chicken.我很胆小（当前面不加冠词a时，代表的是adj；否则就是鸡）

chicken 鸡，鸡肉（当鸡肉讲时，前不加冠词）

4.US $100=100 US (dollars)  读为：one hundred US dollars  US 为货币名称

5.alligator=see you later. 待会见

see you then=see you at that time 到时候见

e.g.A:Don't forget to our date tomorrow night at 8 p.m.别忘了我们明晚8点的约会

       B:I won't.See you then.

注意：约会：男女之间的用date   和医生之间的约会用appointment

6.May I stay overnight at your home?我可以在你家过夜吗？

7.A:Do you have any seats available for tonight's concert?

  B:Yes.But you must book early.

  A:I'd like to make a reservation now. 

  B:OK.Do you want to know the rates for the different types of tickets.

  A:Just reserve the cheapest kind for me. 

  B:Sure.How many do you want?

  A:Just two.How much are they.

  B:They'll cost you 1000 US dollars.
