You can read the current temperature of the ASIC in Celsius from the tempsense sysfs variable.
To do so, just read the following file from sysfs: /sys/class/infiniband/hfi1_0/tempsense.
You will get this kind of output:
[root@OPA-KNL-mtl1 ~]# cat /sys/class/infiniband/hfi1_0/tempsense
51.50 0.00 105.00 105.00 0 0 0
Where the first number is the current temperature reported by the ASIC sensor. All values are in degrees Celsius. The other values are limits that are being programmed in case of overheating of the chip.
