The basic understanding of digital image processing

The report is about the basic understanding of digital image processing, which may contribute to the thoughts of its function.

The purpose of image processing was threefold: ( 1 ) to improve the visual quality of the image, such as brightness and color conversion, enhancement and suppression of certain components, geometric conversion of the image and so on, so as to improve the image quality. ( 2 ) Extracting some features or special information contained in the image, these extracted features or information often provide convenience for the computer to analyze the image. ( 3 ) transformation, encoding and compression of image data to facilitate storage and transmission of images.

Based on the three purposes of image processing, digital image processing can be applied to biomedical engineering, X - ray computed tomography equipment for skull diagnosis, also known as CT. The basic method of CT is to reconstruct the cross-sectional image according to the projection of human head cross - section, which is called image reconstruction. This kind of image processing method can also be applied to face recognition and is also a plate for image processing to remove blur. Military can also use image processing to complete high-risk military tasks.

In summary, face recognition as well as high-risk military tasks can be accomplished by the digital image processing.
