新的领导仍雇用玛丽做秘书

注： secretary，秘书，如：

Mary is private secretary to the company chairman. 玛丽是公司董事长的私人秘书。

 

3、I send a Charistmas car to my overseas friend yesterday.

昨天我给海外的朋友寄了张圣诞贺卡

 

4、Despite the help,plenty of Western farmers have been beset by poverty.

尽管有补助，西方国家大量的农场主仍旧被贫困所困扰

注： despite 不管、尽管；plenty of 大量、很多；be beset by/with 被...包围/为....困扰

注：take off 起飞、离开、摘下，例：

Although I soon convinced him of my innocence, I think he still has serious doubts  about my sanity .虽然我很快便让他相信我是清白的，但是我想他仍然非常怀疑我是 否神志正常。
