Self introduction

Good afternoon, dear professors, my name is ***. It’s a great honor for me to have the opportunity to get this online interview with other candidates.

First I would like to briefly introduce myself. In 20**, I graduated from *** University with a bachelor’s degree in medicine. After passing the postgraduate entrance examination and interview, I became a graduate student of *** University, where I got my medical training and passed the Standardized Resident Training Program. I started working in *** hospital in 20** after getting my master’s degree. During my postgraduate years, I focused my mind on exploring ******(哪个研究方向). In my study, I found ******(简单写一下自己研究生期间做出来的研究结果). However, this is a field still needing more exploration, and I’ve just caught a glimpse of it. I do hope I could further my study in this direction(如果报考导师研究方向跟你之前的研究方向不一致，这句话可以删掉). In addition to the study of ***, I’m also interested in the pathogenesis of ***. I used to help my tutor apply for *** related research fund, although this fund was not approved, I believe I have accumulated valuable experience from the application process.

Studying and working in the department of *** is an incredible and rewarding journey, where I met a lot of excellent teachers. They have taught me with their rigorous clinical thinking and skilled clinical practice, which of course has a positive impact on me. Now, I’m one of the chief residents in our hospital, living a busy and stressful life just like everyone else. Regardless of my duty as a chief resident, I’m still passionate about the incoming new cases, and always hope that I can do more research on something I’m interested in, if I have enough time. (这一段根据个人实际情况来写)

As far as I am concerned, I think there are three necessary qualities we should have when you want to pursue a doctoral degree: First of all, a firm belief for medical science; Secondly, the courage to face failures; Thirdly, the ability to do independent research. Deep down in my heart, I know that If I want to get a relatively good career prospect and be more than a good doctor, I should keep a good balance between scientific research and clinical practice.
