Do not know when, but it did not work for me.
How to fixed it took me quiet time to find.

open Window->Preferences (for Mac users: Eclipse->Preferences).
Then navigate to Java -> Editor -> Content Assist -> Advanced. Ensure that all the entries in the uppermost list are checked. Click okay and check whether "Content Assist" is working now.
