Known Issues in Messenger for Mac 8 Beta

1 Display pictures do not display in the conversation window
Display pictures do not display in the conversation window for both you and your contacts. Also, you cannot change your display picture from the conversation window or the Preferences dialog.

2 You cannot send files to your contacts.
You cannot send files to your contacts by using any of the following methods:
 Dragging a file into the conversation window to send it.
 The Send File option in the Contacts or the conversation windows.

3 You cannot make Audio/Video calls on some network configurations.
Try unblocking the ports used for Messenger audio/video feature. The following table lists the audio/video ports:

4 Some custom emoticons do not display
Some custom emoticons do not display as expected. Instead of an image or text, they show an empty box.

2. Quit any applications that are running, including all Office applications, Microsoft Messenger, and Office Notifications, because they might interfere with installation
3. Make sure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements.
4. Click Download, or click the link for the language version that you want.
5. Follow the instructions on the screen to save the file to your hard disk. If you are using Safari, the downloaded file is saved to the desktop unless you specified a different location in the Preferences dialog box of Safari. To check your preferences, on the Safari menu, click Preferences, and then click General.
6. If the file you downloaded does not expand automatically, on your hard disk, double-click the file that you downloaded and saved in step 5.
7. Drag the Microsoft Messenger icon to the Applications folder on your hard disk.
8. After the application has been copied to your hard disk, you can drag the Microsoft Messenger volume to the Trash, and then drag the file that you downloaded to the Trash.
9. Double-click the Microsoft Messenger application that you copied to your hard disk to start the setup program, and then follow the instructions on the screen.

To remove this update:

1. Quit any Office applications that are running, including Microsoft Messenger and Office Notifications.
2. On your hard disk, locate the Microsoft Messenger application.
3. Drag the Microsoft Messenger application to the Trash.
4.               To remove your existing Messenger for Mac preferences and logs, delete the following files:                            
   • /Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.Messenger.plist
   • /Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.Messenger.rtc.plist
   • /Users/username/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Microsoft Messenger User Cache.plist
   • /Users/username/Documents/Microsoft Messenger.log (this file is only present if you turned on the Messenger Logging preference)

                            To remove all Messenger for Mac files from your computer, delete the following folders in the /Users/username/Documents/Microsoft User Data folder:                            

• Microsoft Messenger Data
• Messenger Corporate Data
• Microsoft Messenger History
