I am working with Cloudstack on Ubuntu but running into issues. I am trying out CentOS to see if the issues go away. So I download the live cd of CentOS 6.2 and installed it on my backup management server which is an Optiplex 990.
After installation I noticed I have network connectivity and eth0 is not registered. This was an issue I ran into on Ubuntu and could do a simple make install on the Intel driver binaries to get it working. However, when I try make install on CentOS it says that make isn't recognized. Some searching lead me to believe that I could use rpmbuid on the .tar.gz file to install the driver. However rpmbuild is not installed and I have no internet connectivity.
I am new to CentOS and am pretty unfamililar with some things such as yum, rpmbuild, etc. I was able to see that e1000e.ko does exist in the kernel/modules folder. So if anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated. Please keep in mind that I don't have internet connectivity.
In Ubuntu, I was able to install software off the installation cd. I don't know how to accomplish that in CentOS or if gcc/g++ and/or rpmbuild are even on the cd.
