1. The Flight Tracking Initiative
In 2015, I received a call from Mac, an old acquaintance. Mac had sold his 747s and was now the CEO of a company building electronic devices for oil wells. These devices measured various parameters at oil wells, recorded the data, received GPS time and position information, and sent this data via the Iridium satellite to a ground station for cloud storage.
