We've all read a lot of books of "rules" (C++ Coding Standard, etc.). It tells you how much pain you'll suffer if you don't conform with the rules. But, how many rules have you remembered finally just after reading the book?
I would say: No Pain, No Upgrade. You have to experience the pain when you missed to apply the rules in your code, then you can make it one part of yourself. So as the old men said : "Software Dev. needs experience."
