动荡年月(2)

得知Paul的离开是在昨天的Communication Meeting上，那是我入公司以来头一次在PM 6:00以后举行的一次会议。
        这是一次电话会议，在电话的另一头，公司的CEO Thomas告诉我们,今天，在今晚，有一个非常重要的announcement，也是对于他来说非常难的一个决定：公司的CTO，我的合伙创始人，Paul，今天，在这里，很艰难地告诉大家，是Paul在公司的Last day!
        Paul发表了一个简短的个人声明，大意是：对下班后占用大家回家的时间感到抱歉，衷心希望我的离开不会给公司带来任何负面影响。感谢Thomas，给我这个机会，给大家作一个说明。Fung Capital收购我们公司本来是一件完美的事，但遗憾的是，Thomas告诉我，Fung Capital认为新的公司不再需要CTO这一职位，面对11年时光创建的公司，从几个人发展到现在OVER 100人，拥有3个OFFICE的公司，我已经无憾。当初我和Thomas最初的PLAN是做一个B2B的商务平台，现在公司的发展已大大超出当初的PLAN。我感到非常的欣慰。ECVISION是一个非常民主，互助和具有人情味的一个公司。他讲到我们一位HK的同事在病危时各位同事给予的关怀。经过一个月的思考，收拾心情，我已接受这个决定。同时，我想拿圣经中保罗的一句话和各位同事共勉：凡事谦虚，忍耐，友爱和宽容。谢谢大家！
       我觉得我应该写点什么。Paul是一个慈和，从容，大度，如慈父一般，兼具幽默感的人。和Thomas商界精英气质不同，Paul是另外一类能让你感到人格魅力的人。虽然同样是有美国背景的华人，但Paul更像是学院的教授，学者一般的人物。所以他担任公司的CTO和作为CEO的Thomas形成完美的互补，作为首席执行官，Thomas非常强势和注重执行力。而Paul注重技术方向上的引领。11年前他们2人拿出自己的钱来成立了公司，一路合作，将公司带到今天。现在，公司已经连续5，6年赢利，摩根，华登国际和新加坡政府在第2次注资1700万美金，公司产品获得香港政府科技进步奖，在HK，SZ，USA设有OFFICE，产品和项目互相结合的赢利模式。在HK，我们有一个称之为“CASH COW”的B2B的XPRESS CHAIN。我们既卖software的license(针对企业级用户),也卖service，JCPenney ，Timberland，New Balance等都是我们的客户。在一个月前公司被Fung Capital USA购买(private equity),Fung氏兄弟(Victor and William Fung)成了公司最大的
股东,他们也是Li & Fung,L&F USA的董事会主席,两者分别在香港和美国上市.
     作为公司的创始人（one of the founders），董事会成员，股东之一，一个团队很好的领导者，任何的对他的赞美之辞都无法表达Paul的离开的伤感和惋惜，我自认自己已足够冷血，高层的变动对于我们这一阶层的员工来讲影响微乎其微，我们照样工作照样拿工资，可是我觉得我还是要写点什么。我不是一个布道者，更不是一个说教者，自从经历了A公司那次震荡以后，我已变得漠然和冷血，但既使对于一个每天上班只是为了养家糊口的打工者而言，心里也是有一些想法的。这个世界每天都在发生着一些事情，每一个PARTY总有ENDING的时候，相对于官职和公营机构，一个公司的环境简单和单纯很多。但BUSINESS IS BUSINESS，商业上的决定有时看起来断然而决然，我不想掩饰我曾受到一些美国公司文化的熏陶，但在有中国人参与的公司中总是存有感情，所以我伤感。ECVISION是我碰到过的另外一个好团队，我曾准备在此拿一个5年服务奖（5 Years Service Prize）,为此我曾婉拒了一些新东家的合约。到现在我仍然有3年合同在身，但是,现在,我也不知道,可以呆到哪一天.也许,明天睁开眼,如果听到公司CEO Thomas K.Ng Last day in ecvision的信息我可能也不会觉得奇怪。记得香港特首曾荫权先生说过一句话："明天会发生什么事情，我也不知道". 我们只能以谦卑，宽容和勇敢的心去接受。
        作为公司的DBA，和Paul打交道的机会不是很多，Paul一周从HK来SZ一次，只是偶尔在去WC的过道上，办公室门前能看到他微笑的GREETING，以及一年一度的Christmas Party上能见到他的身影，按照惯例，由他和Thomas打开champagne。他的离开，简短而快捷，没有发表太多的言辞，可是这仍然让人感动。Angel(SZ HR MANAGER）在宣布的会议上泪流满面，这我是理解的，她跟了Paul 8，9年，SZ这边的OFFICE是由她和Paul最初一点一点建立的。这个决定虽然很正常，但人必竟都是有感情的。
        我知道公司换了新的BOARD（董事会），但正如Thomas所说：这所有的一切其实都是他来决定的，BOARD只是评估他做的好与坏，如果做得不好，他们就FIRE我，做得好，就继续。所以，再难的决定也要由他来下。作为合作了十几年的朋友，我知道当他宣布这个声明是多么的艰难。而公司还要继续，要改变，要迎接挑战，才能生存。
        我不知道作为一个软件公司没有CTO这一职位意味着什么？公司新的DIRECTION是什么？我只能写下一些文字，给Paul,也许正如他所说，IT其实很小，正如我换了3家公司还没走出1平方公里的距离，也许将来还会和他有合作的机会，只希望他，保重！
