Installing FOSSology 2.6 on Ubuntu

Installing from packages

Ubuntu packages are available from the FOSSology project repositories for 12.04, 12.10, 13.04, 13.10 and 14.04, in both 32 and 64 bit versions.

To install the packages, add to your /etc/apt/sources.list file the line matching your ubuntu version:

Ubuntu:
12.04

deb http://www.fossology.org/releases/2.6.2/Ubuntu/ 12.04 contrib

12.10

deb http://www.fossology.org/releases/2.6.2/Ubuntu/ 12.10 contrib

13.04

deb http://www.fossology.org/releases/2.6.2/Ubuntu/ 13.04 contrib

13.10

deb http://www.fossology.org/releases/2.6.2/Ubuntu/ 13.10 contrib

14.04

deb http://www.fossology.org/releases/2.6.2/Ubuntu/ 14.04 contrib

Then update the apt sources and install (This will also upgrade FOSSology if a previous version is already installed)

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install fossology

After running apt-get install you should Configure and tune your installation

You may need to restart the Apache web server before the FOSSology web user-interface will work:

sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart

Point your browser to

http://yourhostname/repo/

and login with the default credentials:

fossy/fossy

Upgrading FOSSology from a previously installed Ubuntu package

If you are upgrading FOSSology from a previously installed deb package, then follow these easy steps:

• Stop the scheduler:

sudo /etc/init.d/fossology stop

• Verify you have the correct entry in your /etc/apt/sources.list file (see above).

apt-get update; apt-get dist-upgrade

• Start the scheduler

sudo /etc/init.d/fossology start
