After screen saver has activated and its time has expired and computer goes
to sleep (or whatever it is called when the on/off switch light blinks) -
then when I press a key to 'wake it up', I get a message that the computer
is 'locked'.

I checked the following in the registry and the values were already set to
the suggested values.

How do I permanently unlock the computer (so I do not see the error message
at all?)

I am not sure what I did to cause the message to appear.

--registry edit--
1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
2. Locate the Scrnsave.exe value under the following registry key:
HKEY_USERS/.Default/Control Panel/Desktop
3. On the Edit menu, click String, type logon.scr, and then click OK.
4. Locate the ScreenSaverIsSecure value.
5. On the Edit menu, click String, type 0, and then click OK.
6. Quit Registry Editor.
